Crown College company history timeline

1916

Crown College was started as a small Bible college in Saint Paul, Minnesota in 1916.

In 1916, The Alliance Training Home was founded by Rev.

1917

In March of 1917, the first campus started its construction process.

Also in 1917, the founder of the Christian and Missionary Alliance, Doctor A.B. Simpson visited the new campus.

1922

In 1922, the name was changed to the St Paul Training School of the Christian Missionary Alliance.

1935

1935 New Englewood campus was purchased

1936

1936 Our name changed to St Paul Bible Institute

1943

In 1943, Doctor G.D. Strohm became the fifth president of the college.

1959

In 1959, the name changed a fourth time to St Paul Bible College.

1963

In 1963, some open property in the St Paul suburb of Arden Hills, about five miles north of the existing campus came to the attention of the college's leadership.

The board studied the site and in 1963 purchased 35 acres of land for $70,000 with the intent to build a new campus on it.

1970

In the autumn of 1970, St Paul Bible College moved onto the land.

1976

1976 Strohm and Richardson Hall were built

1977

The following year, its twin, Richardson Hall, was constructed next door.A friend of the College donated property and a home on Tabor Lake in northern Wisconsin in 1977.

1984

The official start of the football program in 1984 provided an exciting element to college life.A new stadium to seat 500 fans was constructed and gave the football team, called the Crusaders, a place to compete.

In 1984, St Paul Bible College added a collegiate football program.

1991

Crown College opened the doors of its first building in 1991 in rural Powell, Tennessee.

1999

Crown Online was born, offering fully online degreesIn 1999, Crown offered its first online course.

2000

2000 The Wild Athletic Center was built

2004

With extensive growth came the need for a larger physical space, and in 2004 the school expanded its campus to a former Levi Strauss manufacturing facility just down the road.

2013

2013 The KleinBank Stadium opened for games

In 2013, the college announced that Doctor Joel Wiggins would be the school's 16th president and he remains the school's president.

2019

2019 KleinBank Stadium changed name to Old National Bank Stadium

2020

Spring of 2020, during the worldwide pandemic, Crown announced their new mascot to the graduating seniors: Storm, the Polar Bear.
