The Direct Support Professional is responsible for providing support to the residents in the areas of communication, personal management, home management, money management, community skills, vocation, leisure and the use of behavior as communication.
This is an in-person position located out of our group home in Port Washington, NY.
Available Shifts:
16 hours per week. Saturday & Sunday, 8am-4pm
16 hours per week. Saturday & Sunday 4pm-12am.
16 hours per week. Sunday & Monday. 4pm-12am.
32 hours per week. Tuesday-Friday, 4pm-12am
24 hours per week. Friday-Sunday 4pm-12am
Pay Rate: $22.9440/hour.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Provide consistent instruction in the following areas: personal grooming, communication, home management, wardrobe management, community skills, vocation, leisure and behavior support, under guidance of the Program Advisor and Assistant Program Advisor.
Participation in programming which consistently promotes an atmosphere conducive to the growth of all residents and encourages maximum independence and interdependence in all areas of living.
Provides consistent regular checks on all consumers during shift, ensuring safety and well-being.
Assists consumers with safe evacuation in the event of an emergency at the home, work site or in the community. Participates in regularly scheduled drills to prepare for such emergencies.
Accompanies and serves as a guide and/or a facilitator of communication for consumers and professional staff members, when assigned. To accomplish this, it may be required to use personal vehicle on occasion.
Becomes CPR and First Aid certified. Dispenses consumer medications after passing the AMAP course. Must become AMAP certified and maintain this certification as a condition of continued employment in this position.
Required to sleep-in as assigned
REQUIRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma
Four years of paid experience as a residence/group home aide working with individuals who have intellectual disabilities preferred
One year of experience working with individuals who are DeafBlind, blind, deaf or individuals with multiple disabilities preferred
Must possess a valid New York State Driver's license.
Familiarity with American Sign Language highly preferred.

Responsibilities
Counsels and educates cardiac critical care patients and their families/ caregivers concerning health conditions, treatment options and community resources.
Documents delivery of cardiac critical health care and nursing processes in accordance with care standards and network nursing policy.
Participates in orientation and education of staff and students.
Obtains cardiac critical care patient history and performs assessment via observation, interview and examination.
Orders, performs, and interprets diagnostic studies for cardiac critical care patients. Performs health assessments, screening, and patient care.
Provides direct treatment and management of cardiac critical care conditions via prescriptive authority or referral to other healthcare providers or community resources. Engages in discharge planning.
Other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Physician's Assistant or Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the Texas Board of Nursing. Licensed Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner with Prescriptive Authority specializing in Cardiac Critical Care. Credentialed from the Texas Board of Nursing in Acute Care nursing. Experience in caring for children with complex congenital and acquired heart disease in a Pediatric and Congenital Critical Care Unit. Highly proficient in Microsoft Office applications. Ability to work efficiently and flexibly in a fast-paced environment with minimal guidance. Ability to address individuals and information with a high degree of sensitivity and confidentiality in various situations. Capacity to work well with physicians and other care providers as part of a multi-disciplinary healthcare delivery team.

The AmeriCorps program collaborates with many community organizations to provide support and services. MHA's AmeriCorps members (members) must commit to one year of service directly in the community. Current slots available are 675 - 900 hours over the course of the year, with a bi-weekly living stipend ranging from $9,000 to $12,000 annually based on hours served. Upon successful completion of the program, members are also eligible for an Education Award, which can be applied toward college tuition or existing student loans.
Recreation Attendant- Facilitates an environment where youth can build friendships and engage in healthy social interactions through daily program activities. The position offers 12-19.5 hours per week over a 50 week school year.
The Hudson LEAPS Afterschool program provides educational support, recreational opportunity, skill building, character education and a nutritional snack for each participant during three hours of structured daily activities. Collaborations with service providers offer specialized services for participating youth. With a focus on providing youth with a message promoting positive attitude regarding school, delaying childbearing and violence prevention, the program offers interesting and engaging alternatives in Hudson for up to 240 youth (K-8th grade). The programs are available every school day and students are expected to participate in each 3-hour session.

The AmeriCorps program collaborates with many community organizations to provide support and services. MHA's AmeriCorps members (members) must commit to one year of service directly in the community. Current slots available are 675 - 900 hours over the course of the year, with a bi-weekly living stipend ranging from $9,000 to $12,000 annually based on hours served. Upon successful completion of the program, members are also eligible for an Education Award, which can be applied toward college tuition or existing student loans.
Recreation Attendant- Facilitates an environment where youth can build friendships and engage in healthy social interactions through daily program activities. The position offers 12-19.5 hours per week over a 50 week school year.
The Hudson LEAPS Afterschool program provides educational support, recreational opportunity, skill building, character education and a nutritional snack for each participant during three hours of structured daily activities. Collaborations with service providers offer specialized services for participating youth. With a focus on providing youth with a message promoting positive attitude regarding school, delaying childbearing and violence prevention, the program offers interesting and engaging alternatives in Hudson for up to 240 youth (K-8th grade). The programs are available every school day and students are expected to participate in each 3-hour session.

The Arc Lexington has Full-Time and Part-Time openings. With starting rates ranging from $19.35-$20.50, most DSPs earn, on average, $20.00 per hour. Additionally, there is an extra $1.00 per hour for weekend shifts.

Driver's License: A NYS Driver's license with 2 years of driving experience is required.

(MHA) is seeking dedicated and enthusiastic AmeriCorps Members to serve with our after-school program, as Recreation Attendants.
POSITION: Part-time, Monday-Friday, 3:30pm to 6:30pm.
LOCATION: Catskill Elementary School- 770 Embought Rd. Catskill, NY 12414. Serving youth in grades K-5
The AmeriCorps program collaborates with many community organizations to provide support and services. MHA's AmeriCorps members (members) must commit to one year of service directly in the community. Current slots available are 675 - 900 hours over the course of the year, with a bi-weekly living stipend ranging from $9,000 to $12,000 annually based on hours served. Upon successful completion of the program, members are also eligible for an Education Award, which can be applied toward college tuition or existing student loans.
Recreation Attendant- Facilitates an environment where youth can build friendships and engage in healthy social interactions through daily program activities. The position offers up to 18 hours per week over a 50-week school year.
The Catskill Kids Club Afterschool program provides educational support, recreational opportunity, skill building, character education and a nutritional snack for each participant during three hours of structured daily activities. Collaborations with service providers offer specialized services for participating youth. With a focus on providing youth with a message promoting positive attitude regarding school, delaying childbearing and violence prevention, the program offers interesting and engaging alternatives in Catskill for youth (K-5th grade). The programs are available when school operates on a full day schedule and students are expected to participate in each 3-hour session.
Job duties include:
Provide an atmosphere which builds friendships, encourages healthy social interactions, and promotes recreational opportunities for children.
Communicates clearly with youth employing active listening skills.
Establishes and maintains professional boundaries.
Defines expectations clearly.
Offers reassurance and encouragement.
Works to motivate youth to identify and select appropriate activities.
Respects youth and families' cultural norms when selecting activities.
Plans and conducts age-appropriate activities in partnership with the youth that achieve their established goals.
Models and teaches socially acceptable behaviors.
Requirements
Must have an understanding of cultural family differences and values with the ability to remain non-judgmental.
Must have an understanding of HIPPA privacy laws and adhere to them.
Must be self-motivated.
Must have excellent verbal, written, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Regular and steady attendance is a requirement for all positions.
Ability to work with a diverse population of urban, suburban and rural cultures and with community members from varying socioeconomic backgrounds.
Demonstrate a commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion through continuous development, modeling inclusive behaviors, and proactively managing bias.
Must be able to work regularly outside the office and in the field to engage with participants.
Must have an intermediate competency in Windows operating environment using Micro Soft Office applications, database, email, trainings and payroll.
