DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS:
This is an advanced technical and working supervisory position responsible for the design, layout, installation, repair, and evaluation of electrical power systems and equipment. The class differs from that of Electrician I by virtue of supervisory duties and responsibility for planning, coordinating and instructing in large projects. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Five (5) years of experience in a position involving the performance of electrical repairs and installation, two (2) of which were unsupervised, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
NOTE: No less than two (2) years of unsupervised experience will be accepted.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:
A department head may require possession of a valid New York State Driver License at the time of appointment and to maintain position.
Additional Information:
The Electrician II position is a Civil Service non-competitive title with the starting salary of $71,640. This is a full-time, 40 hours per week, 12-month position.

Very familiar with basic blueprints, schematics, manuals, and other specifications to determine installation procedures unassisted, may require assistance with more complex specifications.
Strong customer focus and ability to work under pressure; ability to maintain awareness of, and seek to meet the needs and wants of the customer without being prompted.

As an Apprentice, you are a key member of our team responsible for the quality and efficient installation of refrigeration, heating and air conditioning systems. You will also develop new customers by identifying opportunities to sell additional work. Exemplifying our code of values, you show respect and courtesy to all customers and employees.
Ideally you have prior experience in the HVAC industry, but it isn't necessary, and have proven communication skills with supervisors, employees, and customers. You are self-motivated, thrive in fast moving environments, and able to manage time to effectively meet deadlines.
Specific Responsibilities:
Assist lead installer with installation of HVAC equipment
Learn basic electricity
Learn basic refrigeration
Learn how to do sheet metal work
Learn service and maintenance of heating and AC equipment
Help keep shop and truck organized and clean
Job Requirements:

What We Offer
Compensation:
This is an hourly non-exempt role. The salary range for this role and market is between $39,000 - $49,000 annually. Factors that may affect the starting salary include geography/market and the individual's tenure, performance, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate. Employees in this role are not eligible for a bonus but do earn overtime when they work more than 40 hours in a week (or as otherwise required by state law).
