About this Position

Repair and maintain all types of interior and exterior electrical systems and equipment, to include panel boards, breakers, fuses, fire and security systems, public address systems, lighting, and mechanical and HVAC equipment.
Repair and maintain all types of motors and controllers to include bearings, seals, motor leads, rebuild shafts, troubleshoot motor integrity, and motor drives.
Must be willing to coordinate and be resourceful in working with colleagues and project managers in building estimates, designs, and materials lists.
Install all types of interior and exterior electrical systems and equipment, new conduit, and wiring, to include panel boards, breakers, lighting, and mechanical equipment.
Inspect/repair/replace variable frequency drives and 3-phase pumps at any HP, change out pumps/motors greater than 1 HP, and single-phase.
Ability to interpret blueprints and schematic drawings.
The employee in this position may be required to work overtime after 4 pm, shift work, and be on a rotating standby for emergencies during non-business hours, including when the university is closed and/or other events after 5 pm on weekdays, weekends, and holidays when management deems necessary. The ability to perform snow and ice removal tasks and respond at any time of the day or night when scheduled by management, regardless of weather, will be required.
Perform other assigned duties related to operations, maintenance, and renovations to buildings and equipment, such as preventive maintenance, light duty carpentry, painting, electrical, plumbing, and other miscellaneous repairs and maintenance activities; and respond to emergency and urgent work.
Must use appropriate personal protective equipment as required (gloves, safety glasses, etc.). These items are provided and not for personal use. This position regularly stands, bends, stoops, lifts above the shoulders, is heavy in manual labor, and requires the physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently and in excess of 50 pounds occasionally.

Required Qualifications
High School/GED (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)
Electrician I - High school diploma or GED and two years of prior successful work experience in commercial, industrial, and/or residential electric.
Electrician II - High school diploma or GED and three years of prior successful work experience in commercial, industrial, and/or residential electric.
Electrician I & II Post-secondary education may be substituted for 6 months of experience; preference given to post-secondary education in the electrical field.

Candidate position placement is dependent upon years of experience and availability.

About this Position

Oversee and perform the repair and maintenance of all facets of exterior lighting and secondary voltage exterior electrical circuitry and equipment. Assist with establishing Electrical Distribution PM standards for new assets in AiM CMMS. Coordinate and perform all excavation permit procedures according to policy and keep permits current. Assist with procuring materials as needed for shop and for projects. Perform Electrical Distribution Assistant Supervisor duties when needed as directed. Ability to interpret and apply relevant industry codes. Qualified in electrical distribution underground or overhead systems as indicated by Energy Services training record or capability verified by previous employer. Industry certified medium voltage splice and termination technician. Maintain the electrical systems and equipment of Southern Nazarene University's physical plant in good condition and working order, to create a safe and suitable environment for learning and living. Under the supervision of the electrical supervisor and/or officials responsible for the coordination and accomplishment of plant maintenance and operation work, perform the duties peculiar to, and normally required in, the trade of electrician, following recognized procedures and techniques for such work.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Functions:
Including, but not limited to:
Installation of new and additional electrical work, remodeling, etc.
Maintenance and repair of fixtures, motors, relays, magnetic starters, transformers, etc.
Installation of electrical conduit/wiring for new equipment and fixtures
Understand the electrical symbols and interpretation of building and electrical prints.
Troubleshoot elements of electrical systems to isolate defects in wiring, blown fuses, short circuits, defective switches, etc, and to locate obvious faults in motors and other electrical equipment, using suitable testing instruments.
Replace faulty switches, sockets, plugs, fuses, insulators, and other simple elements of electrical systems, fixtures, and appliances.
Must be able to handle and read a variety of hand tools and meters.
As required, estimate materials needed and record time and materials expended on each work order.
Will have some supervisory duties if a helper is assigned to assist in the work of the electrician.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
