Must be fully qualified and capable of working directly with project management to understand and evaluate scheduled electrical work needed to complete projects in a timely manner. Must be capable of performing all duties associated with the crew lead position and in addition. Must be able to self-prepare for all scopes of electrical work needed by evaluating pictures from site assessment and communicating directly with the project management and design team about any necessary changes or improvements to the electrical plan set. These changes must be documented and sent to the project management team. Must maintain tools and materials needed to “adapt and overcome” any challenges in the field including utility shutdowns. Must be capable of communicating at a high level with city inspectors. Must maintain a 90% or higher pass rate on all electrical equipment wall installations and maintain less than 10% of service calls generated by installation-related quality issues. Must be capable of cross-training and crew development when assigned to supervise and support solar installation crews, allowing roof crew leads to self-perform installations while maintaining consistent quality by performing and documenting (pictures) quality control checks at specific points during the installation process. Essential Duties and Responsibilities for Meterman Journeyman (all the above included) * Using precision test equipment in the shop or field tests, repairs, installs, and maintains all types of customer metering equipment, including, but not limited to, kwh meters, demand meters, recording devices, instrument transformers, pulse initiating devices and remote. * Responsible for installation, removal, inspection, and exchange of self-contained meters and metering equipment in the field and/or meter shop. * Program and test new and field returned meters. * Required to update and complete the work order using a work order management system. * Installs security devices such as lockboxes, lock rings and metal meter covers. Remove or repair damaged equipment. * Use and maintain a laptop computer and/or tablets for use in programming and maintenance of meters, completing daily work orders, time reporting, load validation forms, and other electronic forms as required. * Effectively operates various computer software systems and navigates all applications routinely used in Meter Operations. * Responsible for installation, maintenance, testing, troubleshooting, and repairing all AMI field devices. * Inspects and/or tests the connections on self-contained meters, devices, and test blocks. * Use and maintain meter test bench and gain knowledge and understanding related to testing instruments and results. Knowledge of the characteristics, construction, adjustments, constraints, and application of meters to adjust for power factor. * Builds and wires primary and secondary metering packages under Electric Meterman Foreman supervision. * Evaluates, installs, and removes primary and secondary PTs and CTs, sockets, enclosures, and conduits under Electric Meterman Foreman supervision. * Responsible for installing, testing, and repairing recording devices used for power quality monitoring. * Ability to download and analyze power quality-related data. * Responsible for investigating customer complaints concerning voltage irregularities. * Installs, downloads, and analyzes current, voltage, and disturbance recorders on customers' metering equipment. * Capable of performing connects and disconnects on self-contained three-phase accounts. * Uses testing and troubleshooting devices in the field to troubleshoot meter and communication issues and perform customer-requested meter tests. * Originates and assists Electric Meterman Foreman in the analysis and investigation of energy diversion, potential safety hazards, and other abnormal meter conditions. * Assist Electric Meterman Foreman in the analysis of circuits or meters for error and calculate the amount of power loss or overcharge. * Assist Electric Meterman Foreman in the analysis and correction of customer voltage problems and transient voltage disturbances (using electronic test equipment) that affect the operation of computers, computer-controlled machines, motors, appliances, etc. Makes recommendations to customers, electricians, and line department personnel. * Assist Electric Meterman Foreman in the analysis of circuits for load, power factor, or voltage on customers' premises to provide data for metering changes and customer information. Meets with electricians to assist in metering design, including metering location and mounting. * Responsible for inspecting Distributed Energy Resource (DER) installations, installing bi-directional meters, and updating DER permitting systems. * Assist in resolving unplanned power outages; participate in restoring power services in a safe and timely manner; and communicate with utility customers regarding electrical complaints, planned outages, and potential electric hazards during power outages. * Must follow Company safety standards and practices and be compliant in the proper use of personal protective equipment required to perform work. * Assist other departments with manual electric meter readings as needed. * Will be required to work with voltage up to 600 unsupervised. * Utilization and training of Electrical Design software. * Other duties as assigned.
