Respond to emergency calls for electrical repairs as needed. Accurately track and record all materials and labor used on each job and relay that info to DBES office each day to assist with billing and inventory control Supervision of electrical apprentices. Includes teaching and oversight of DBES electrical apprentices. Ensure that apprentices are learning the skills necessary for success with DBES, and check all work for accuracy and compliance before completing a job. Skills & Qualifications: Proven experience as a licensed Electrician, with demonstrated expertise in residential new construction, remodeling, service, fire alarm, and light commercial electrical work. Possess and retain a RI State Journeyperson Electrician License (or equivalent certification). Knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and local electrical codes. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and electrical diagrams. Proficient in using a variety of electrical hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment. Electricians are expected to provide their own hand tools, multimeter, and standard battery tools (e.g., drill, impact driver, Sawzall) Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team Commitment to safety practices and procedures Ability to work independently and manage time effectively. The role of KES Technician is to perform full installations of our Demand Control Kitchen Ventilation system (DCKV) in commercial kitchens. DCKV is the process of measuring the level of cooking activity in commercial kitchen hoods and modulating the speed of the associated exhaust and supply fans to be used only as needed. By adjusting these units, these commercial kitchens save a tremendous amount of energy in their electrical, heating, and cooling usage. The KES Technician is the company's direct representative and will be responsible for properly executing the installation of these systems ensuring complete system functionality at the end of the project. KES Technicians will work together in teams of two to accomplish these tasks on each jobsite. This work involves, but not limited to, the following scope of work: Installing various sensors directly to the kitchen hoods (drilling into stainless steel). Installing Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) to modulate the associated exhaust fans along with the proper power wiring (120V/1), (208V/3), (460V/3) as needed. Installing and wiring new fan motors as needed. Installing and wiring new exhaust fans as needed, and other associated low voltage wiring. The KES Technician will program and commission the DCKV system and train the customer on functionality and usage. Position Summary: The essential function of the Electrician is to provide the service, repair, maintenance, and installation of products primarily to residential customers. The Licensed Electrician utilizes customer service training to educate and assist customers in choosing services, products and finance options. Essential Job Duties: Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous. Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system Maintain current electrician's license or identification card to meet governmental regulations Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures, based on job specifications and local codes Direct and train workers to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures Prepare sketches or follow blueprints to determine the location of wiring and equipment and to ensure conformance to building and safety codes Price jobs and calculate time to perform work Complete necessary paperwork for work performed Calculate the cost of service for the customer and collect payment Supervisory Responsibilities: The Licensed Electrician will be required to train and work one-on-one with Electrical apprentices. Offer solutions to prevent recurring issues, ensuring long-term reliability. Customer Interaction: Provide excellent customer service by explaining repairs, installations, or upgrades clearly to clients. Advise clients on energy-saving strategies, system improvements, and new technologies. Documentation & Reporting: Complete reports, work orders, and other documentation for jobs performed. Keep track of inventory, tools, and materials required for projects. Ensure compliance with local, state, and national electrical codes. Skills and Qualifications: Completion of an apprenticeship or vocational training program. Valid electrician's license Strong understanding of electrical systems, wiring, and circuits. Knowledge of national and local electrical codes. Ability to read blueprints, diagrams, and schematics. Familiarity with electrical testing tools and equipment. Attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills. Good communication skills for working with clients and teams. Physical stamina to perform manual labor and work in various environments. High school diploma or equivalent. Physical Demands: Lifting heavy tools and equipment. Ability to work in tight spaces, climb ladders, and work at heights.
