Job Description Hazardous Waste Technician SEASON: February - April SECTOR/DEPT: Six Mile, LLC Antarctica ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for the collection, processing and packaging of all hazardous waste, including legal classification, required packaging and proper labeling of all containers. Ability to be extremely detail oriented and meet a high level of quality control regarding highly regulated USAP hazardous wastes. Ability to learn and follow all ACA, EPA, NRC, IMDG, DOT, State, rules and regulations regarding hazardous wastes being shipped. Ability to complete all documentation and tracking to a high degree of accuracy. Perform certain classification qualitative testing on items (pH testing, flash point testing, etc.) Perform safe operation of an articulating forklift. Quality checks all shipping containers and correct discrepancies immediately. Assist the Solid Waste Department as needed. Ability to supply manual labor (shoveling) for several hours if needed. Regular use of drum dollies, cargo straps, banding, shovels, pallet jacks, power tools and other tools. Position requires constant physical activity, including bending, consistently lifting and carrying 50 - 70 lbs reaching and gripping.
