Position Summary:
Shimadzu Scientific Instruments is seeking a FieldServiceTechnician to join our team and play a vital role in providing exceptional service and support for our analytical instrumentation. In this position, you will be responsible for a variety of service-related functions, including the repair, maintenance, and performance verification of assigned products, including demo equipment and instruments returned from customers.
JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
Provide daily repair and maintenance support for assigned products, including installations.
Conduct in-house bench repairs and onsite customer repairs as needed while primarily handling fieldservice calls with limited supervision.
Travel within the local region (including day and overnight trips) to support customer needs.
Offer technical support via phone to customers and field personnel regarding repairs, maintenance and installations.
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Associate degree in Electrical Engineering or Technology; a bachelor's degree is preferred.
At least one year of experience in repairing analytical instrumentation, including HPLC, GC, LCMS, AA, or similar instruments.
Strong technical knowledge and understanding of these technologies.
Excellent communication and customer relations skills.
Willingness to travel

Compensation & Benefits:
This full-time, non-exempt position comes with a comprehensive benefits package. In your first year, you will receive 10 paid vacation days, 8 paid personal days, 8 paid scheduled holidays and 3 paid floating holidays (Residents of California and Puerto Rico will receive state-mandated sick leave instead of personal days). After one year of employment, you will also be eligible for a generous short-term disability program with the company covering 100% of monthly premiums.
The starting salary range for this role is $61,000 to $63,000 annually, paid semi-monthly. As a non-exempt position, you will be eligible for overtime and double time pay, as outlined in our employee handbook. Additional variable compensation includes an incentive plan (10% of base salary) based on company and service performance, paid semi-annually in April and October. A year-end discretionary bonus may also be awarded based on overall company performance.
This position includes a company car with a fuel card (with a $55 per pay deduction for personal use), company laptop, and a company-paid cell phone, which remains company property but can be used for personal purposes.

Job Summary
The position is responsible for installation and repair of telecommunications equipment and services located in customer premises, Central Office and Data Center Locations. Responsibilities
* Assemble, configure, and install electronic components supporting Ethernet, DWDM, CWDM, and ROADM technologies, following DLR and Method & Procedures documentation.
* Travel to remote customer sites and data centers to perform equipment installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
* Conduct fiber testing using OTDR, power meter/light source, and insertion loss measurements to validate and certify optical network performance.
* Analyze OTDR traces to pinpoint fiber faults, splices, connectors, and reflectance anomalies.
* Connect AC or DC power to electronic components and verify backup power functionality
* Install and route fiber and copper cabling with attention to quality, cable management, and bend-radius compliance.
* Execute testing procedures to ensure equipment and services meet Lightpath standards and service-level requirements.
* Verify and update facility/circuit inventory systems, documenting as-built changes when installations differ from design.
* Maintain professional appearance by complying with Lightpath dress code and customer-facing standards.
* Manage truck stock inventories including tools, parts and supplies.
* Ensure all equipment assigned to a work order is installed or returned as per documented Logistics procedures.

Qualifications

How You'll Contribute:
The installation technician is responsible for performing a wide variety of installation duties on technology projects for our clients. This position is the key field position for the bulk of the actual work that gets done in our clients buildings. The install tech needs to coordinate with project management, field superintendents and others to fully understand their role on specific projects. They interpret our drawing packages to create the basis of the finished systems. What You'll Do:
Perform structured cabling installation: pull, terminate, label, and dress cables per project documentation and standards.
Complete physical installation and wiring of AV devices (displays, speakers, microphones, cameras, control interfaces, etc.).
Assemble, populate, and dress equipment racks with a high degree of workmanship and adherence to design documents.
Solder and terminate connectors according to project specifications and accepted industry practices.
Execute light physical construction tasks as required (e.g., blocking, mounting surfaces, hardware installation).
Follow Diversified's installation procedures, quality guidelines, and safety protocols with minimal deviation.
Maintain accurate daily records: timesheets, daily field reports, checklists, and as-built documentation.
Collaborate effectively with Project Managers, Engineers, and Lead Technicians to ensure project milestones are met.
Represent Diversified professionally on active job sites, including client and construction environments.
Actively participate in ongoing training and skill development toward advancing technical proficiency.
Complexity:
This level of technician will be responsible for performing tasks on clients job sites with little supervision. On smaller projects this position may be responsible for the coordination with clients, contractors and subcontractors.
Decision Making Authority:
This position is often alone on the job sites and requires making good judgement about decisions that need to be made. In general the project manager and a site supervisor are available to answer questions. This position requires good diplomacy in working with our clients and other key stakeholders on the job sites.

When not on construction sites, the employee will experience normal office conditions and be required to use office equipment such as computers, peripherals, etc.
Travel:
Frequent travel by car and occasional airplane trips are required. Employee must possess a valid driver's license in their state of residence. Employee will be required to use their own vehicle and will be reimbursed for mileage at the current corporate rate. Local travel to job sites (within a 2 hour driving distance each way) will make up 70-90% usually but remote travel can be up to 30% of the job at times. 10% remote travel is required on a regular basis.

Job Description:

The work:

Basic Qualifications:

How You'll Contribute:
The ADOPT Onsite AV ServiceTechnician reports to and works within an assigned client site location daily, providing support for technical system needs. The most important requirement for this role is the ability to create and maintain a client relationship which results in superior client satisfaction, as well as the renewal and growth of an ADOPT onsite support agreement. Support normally includes multiple aspects, such as meeting/conference/events assists, inventory tracking, reporting, and proactive systems maintenance. Additionally, technicians exercise technical skill level abilities to perform routine maintenance, and repair of faulty systems and equipment.
What You'll Do:
Exercise successful collaboration with Diversified team members and departments.
Perform supporting assists for end-user meetings/conferences/events.
Perform routine preventive maintenance of technical systems, ensuring a ready to use state.
Perform resolution of any system/equipment repair faults discovered within systems.
Interface/liaison with others in efforts related to equipment faults and repair needs.
Interface/liaison with manufacturers/vendors to facilitate equipment repair needs (as RMAs).
Develop and manage/maintain an inventory tracking/recording mechanism.
Track/update repair needs, work duties and events within ticketing systems.
Produce summary and detailed reports.
Maintain functional aspects of technical systems for an optimal ready to use state.
Continue to progress elevated technical skills related to technical systems characteristics.
Continue to grow and hone soft skills related to satisfactory client relationships.
Create proper reporting materials to help express the value of the role to the client.
Create an atmosphere of pleasure and confidence with the Diversified client experience.
Physical Working Environment:
Normally provided a working area within an office/business environment. Dependent upon the client, this role is often called to support and perform work on systems located throughout the entire breadth of a client's building(s) and campus grounds. The daily working conditions may have various demands/situational relationships.
Examples of the demands/situational relationships you may encounter:
Equipment access needs may be located within difficult areas (under conference/meeting room tables, within equipment closets/rooms, behind large displays/walls, within ceiling areas, cramped within small spaces such as kiosks, etc.)
There may be needs to safely lift/handle equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
There are normally demands for walking great distances on a regular/daily basis.
There may often be needs to traverse up/down stairwells on a regular/daily basis.
There may be needs to work on/at the top area of ladders, electric lifts, or atop scaffolding.
There may be an occasional need to work with hand tools, and/or electric power tooling.
Hot to cold temperatures (and vice-versa) within physical environments may be encountered.
Stresses may arise related to system/equipment failures, or difficult client interactions.
What You'll Bring:
Education/Certifications:
A high school diploma (or equivalent) is a minimum requirement for this position.
A background screen and driving records check will be performed for all applicants.
Required/Desired Knowledge, Experience and Skills:
1+ years of experience with audio-visual related systems.
Superior client relationship management is a requirement for this position (i.e. exhibiting the ability to create an atmosphere of tension relief during high stress encounters).
Preferences will be given to those applicants possessing any of the following characteristics:
* A postsecondary education degree
* A technical school/education certification/degree
* Client relations related training/certifications
* AVIXA CTS related certifications
* Biamp related certifications
* Crestron related certifications
* Networking/IT related certifications

* Experience with audio-visual related systems (1-3 years of AV support preferred).
* Experience trouble shooting video walls, control systems, and DSP
* Experience with video conferencing, unified communications, and collaboration platforms.
* Experience in a field related to providing face-to-face client technical systems support.
* Experience in a field related to providing technical systems support.
* Experience with supporting internal and external client relationships.
* Forward-thinking individual, with diligence and efficiency in multi-tasking.
* Possessing the ability to take ownership and provide solutions toward resolution.
* Excellent communications and client service skills, with consistent follow-through.
* Detail oriented and technically savvy.
