Essential Functions
Performs desk reviews of sub-recipient reimbursement claims and financial reports to ensure compliance with approved grant budgets, required deadlines, and program and federal regulations.
Provides financial assistance related to state and federal grants, ensuring compliance with federal guidance and regulations (e.g., Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB), OMB Uniform Guidance (2 CFR 200)).
Receives, reviews, and makes adjustments related to grant payment requests. Approves and prepares disbursements of funds and maintains payment records and documentation.
Consults with and provides technical assistance to program staff, schools, educational service units, and other sub-recipients on aid program's fiscal requirements.
Gathers, analyzes, and interprets financial data to generate reports and determine regulatory allowability of expenditures.
Assists with development and maintenance of grants management systems, process controls, policies, and procedures.
Working Conditions and Travel:
This position requires approximately 95% of work time spent in an office environment; the remaining 5% is spent traveling or working in alternative sites such as off-site conferences or meetings. There is also approximately three days of overnight travel per year.
Requirements / Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a related field and two years of experience related to the essential functions of the position. Any equivalent education and\or work experience may be substituted in order to meet the minimum qualifications of the position.

Performance Expectations:
The Prospects Grant Manager will be expected to demonstrate the ability to generate additional, new revenue to the organization. Performance will be evaluated based on both quantitative metrics (e.g., funds secured, proposal success rate) and qualitative factors (e.g., collaboration with team members, relationship management with funders). Additionally, adherence to administrative duties, such as pipeline updates, and timely and compelling reporting will be essential for successful performance evaluation.
Collaborative Responsibilities:
This role works in peer partnership with UWM's existing grant manager for renewable grants to manage the entire portfolio of UWM grants. Additionally, this role works very closely with the donor engagement team who may, through their independent interactions, identify new prospects that require a grant, letter or other proposal. A grant accountant is in place to support financial reporting needs, and this position will also work collaboratively with this staff member.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree required or equivalent experience in journalism, communications, public administration, or related field.
2-5 years of experience in grant writing or nonprofit fundraising; experience with federal, state, or government proposals preferred.
