Richard J. Liekweg is president and chief executive officer of BJC HealthCare, one of the nation’s largest nonprofit, integrated health care delivery organizations with over $6 billion in net revenues and more than 32,000 employees serving the greater St. Louis, southern Illinois and mid-Missouri regions. BJC is the largest provider of charity care, unreimbursed care and community benefit in Missouri, providing more than $800.8 million in financial assistance, education of health professionals, safety net services and community outreach programs. BJC’s patients have access to the latest advances in medical science and technology through a formal affiliation between BJC and the renowned Washington University School of Medicine, which consistently ranks among the top medical schools in the country. He currently serves on the boards of several professional and community organizations including Vizient, Washington University, Missouri Hospital Association, Cortex, St. Louis Regional Health Commission, Greater St. Louis, Inc., BioSTL and Forest Park Forever. Liekweg holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Virginia and master’s degrees in health services administration and business administration, both from the University of Michigan.
