Tampa Bay Federal Credit Union was chartered on May 23, 1935.
In 1936, as the Great Depression took hold of the nation, 12 Los Angeles City employees pooled their resources of $60 and formed the Los Angeles City Employees Federal Credit Union.
Chartered in May 1971, the credit union is a member-owned, non-profit, full-service financial institution.
In 1987, the name changed to Los Angeles Federal Credit Union (LAFCU) to reflect growing credit union membership, which began including immediate family members of City employees and individuals who lived in the same household as a current member.
Jarrod McClaine of Stillwater, who joined the credit union in 1995, was the first member to visit the new branch on its opening day.
Cindy has worked in the Marketing department at Ideal CU since 1995 and currently sits on the Board of Directors of the Ideal CU Community Foundation.
On September 13, 2001, SECNY Federal Credit Union was designated a community credit union.
Established in 2006, LACA supports selected nonprofits through charitable giving and volunteerism.
