Incom company history timeline

1973

By the beginning of 1973, Incom successfully manufactures its first fiber optic faceplate, a product that becomes a core focus for the company and eventually paves the way for Incom’s state-of-the-art development and dominance in the digital x-ray industry.

1975

Since 1975, Incom has been a proud supporter of the United Way of Southbridge, Sturbridge, and Charlton.

1985

Incom’s foray into night vision is launched in 1985 when the company begins to produce a fiber optic taper for image intensification in a viewer used by United States Army combat tanks.

1989

In 1989, the department funded a national fair housing study.

1994

A significant milestone for Incom occurs in 1994 when the company purchases a competitor’s fused fiber optics business.

2003

In 2003, Incom manufactures the largest diameter fiber optic tapers ever made.

2006

A 2006 Small Business Innovation Research grant (SBIR) from the National Science Foundation facilitates the development of Glass Capillary and Microwell fiber optic faceplates.

2008

In November 2008, the genome of an extinct Wooly Mammoth is sequenced almost to completion with the key to success being an Incom microwell faceplate.

2011

In 2011, Incom formally recognized a dedicated Research & Development organization, establishing laboratory and office space in the JRD Research Facility.

2012

In February 2012, Incom completed its acquisition of Paradigm Optics.

The American Taxpayer Relief Act of 2012 increased the highest income tax rate to 39.6 percent.

2013

In 2013, 23 percent of black renting families and 25 percent of Hispanic renting families spent at least half of their income on housing.

2016

2018

The highest income tax rate was lowered to 37 percent for tax years beginning in 2018.

2019

In January 2019 Incom completed the first phase of its nearly 10x expansion into a new 45,000 square foot facility, investing millions of dollars in new equipment and increasing its workforce to over 40 personnel.
