The Cable Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting structured cabling systems to support voice, data, video, and network communications. This role ensures all cabling infrastructure is installed to industry standards, project specifications, and customer requirements while maintaining safety and quality at all times.
Key Responsibilities
Installation & Cabling Work
Install, terminate, and test copper (Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A) and fiber optic cabling systems.
Pull, label, route, and dress cables in commercial, industrial, and data center environments.
Install cable trays, J-hooks, ladder racks, racks, patch panels, and related infrastructure hardware.
Perform fiber splicing, connector installation, and end-to-end certification.
Install network equipment including switches, wireless access points, and telecom room hardware as directed.
Testing & Troubleshooting
Conduct continuity, performance, and certification testing using Fluke or similar testers.
Diagnose and resolve cable faults, signal loss, and connection issues.
Perform repairs and upgrades to existing cabling systems with minimal downtime.
Documentation & Compliance
Complete detailed daily job reports, cable logs, labeling documentation, and test results.
Ensure all cabling meets BICSI, NEC, and manufacturer standards.
Qualifications
1-3+ years of structured cabling or low-voltage installation experience preferred.
Knowledge of copper and fiber standards, cabling best practices, and industry tools.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, floor plans, and cable layouts.
Experience with cable testing equipment (Fluke DSX, OTDR, light meters).
Familiarity with LOTO, ladder safety, PPE, confined spaces, and general construction safety.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Ability to lift 50+ lbs, work on ladders, and work in overhead or crawl spaces.
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Preferred Certifications

What you will do

Job Summary:
We are looking for a skilled and experienced HVAC Installer / Technician to join our team! In this role, you will primarily install/replace heating and air conditioning systems in residences and some commercial establishments. You will also perform service and maintenance of systems during the slow seasons.
You have past experience being a HVAC Installer and hold an EPA certification. A team player who is comfortable working independently, you love the feeling of a job well done and take pride in completing customer jobs with efficiency. A positive attitude is a must!
Responsibilities:
Replace and install heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems to improve efficiency
Establish customer rapport to ensure the highest levels of satisfaction
Test pipe or tubing joints or connections for leaks, using a pressure gauge or soap-and-water solution
Test electrical circuits or components for continuity, using electrical test equipment
Repair or replace defective equipment, components, or wiring
Duct cleaning
Qualifications:
3 years experience as a HVAC Installer
2 years experience as a HVAC Service Technician
Valid Drivers License with clean driving record
EPA Certification
Experience with operation and maintenance of heat pumps, and air handlers.
Experience brazing and replacing coils, air handlers, condensers, compressors.
Ability to climb ladders, crawl, and lift 70 pounds

Key Responsibilities
Service, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC/R equipment including chillers, boilers, rooftop units, and split systems.
Diagnose electrical, control, and mechanical issues and replace or repair components such as compressors, fans, pumps, and thermostats.
Perform preventative maintenance and conduct detailed inspections on commercial HVAC systems.
Document key metrics such as pressure, airflow, temperature, and humidity.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain all required certifications.
Accurately complete daily service reports and communicate effectively with team members and customers.
Participate in rotating on-call duties and flexible shift work when needed.
Qualifications
EPA Certification for refrigerant handling (required).
Minimum of 4 years' experience working on commercial or industrial HVAC systems.
Knowledge of refrigeration systems, pneumatic/digital controls, and electrical troubleshooting.
Ability to read schematics, follow instructions, and work independently.
Valid driver's license and clean driving record (company vehicle provided).
Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Willingness to work in outdoor environments and elevated spaces year-round.
Physical Requirements
Lift, push, and pull up to 75 lbs.
Stand and walk for up to 8 hours per shift.
Climb ladders and work on rooftops and in confined spaces.
Stoop, kneel, twist, and bend regularly.
Operate in outdoor conditions year-round.
