Institute of Technology company history timeline

1990

The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board recommended in 1990 that all two-year programs at Lamar University-Beaumont be combined into Lamar University Institute of Technology.

1991

1991 - Lawrence J. Wolf appointed 4th President of Oregon Tech.

1995

On September 1, 1995 the Lamar University System was abolished, and the components became members of The Texas State University System.

1995 - First master's degree offered.

1998

1998 - Martha Anne Dow appointed 5th President of Oregon Tech.

1999

The Texas Legislature changed the name of the institution to Lamar Institute of Technology in 1999.

2000

On December 4, 2000, Southern Association of Colleges and Schools granted separate accreditation to Lamar Institute of Technology.

2001

2001 - Oregon Renewable Energy Center established in law by the Oregon legislature.

2006

In December 2006 University Technology Park at Illinois Institute of Technology, an incubator and life sciences/tech startup facility, was started in existing research buildings located on the south end of Mies Campus.

2008

2008 - Christopher G. Maples appointed 6th President of Oregon Tech.

2015

Duflo and Banerjee were married in 2015.

2017

2017 – Present David C. Munson Jr. became RIT’s 10th president on July 1, 2017.

2017 - Oregon Manufacturing Innovation Center Research and Development (OMIC R&D) collaboration established.

2018

The President’s Investiture was held on May 18, 2018.

2018 - Oregon Governor Kate Brown served as keynote speaker at Oregon Tech’s 70th commencement ceremony in Klamath Falls.

2018 - Behavior Improvement Group Applied Behavior Analysis (BIG ABA) clinic in Klamath Falls established.

2021

2021 - Renovation of Track and Field began.

2022
