Essential Functions: * Repairs or replaces wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools * Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system * Uses a variety of tools and equipment such as power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools, and testing equipment including oscilloscopes, ammeters, and test lamps * Assembles, installs, tests, and maintains electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools * Connects wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components * Performs other duties as assigned Supervisory Responsibility: No Required: * 3+ years of experience in electrical field in a commercial/industrial environment; or equivalent combination of vocational training and experience * Must be able to multi-task, work with minimal supervision, follow written and oral instructions, show attention to detail, and demonstrate problem-solving skills * Ability to follow electrical code manuals to install and repair electrical systems * Must adhere to all company policy and procedures * Must be available, and have the means to report to multiple job sites as assigned The work environment and physical demands required would be representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job, and may include, but are not limited to the following: Work Environment: * May work in varying temperatures; both inside and outside, including inclement weather, heat, humidity, cold, and dampness * May work in areas with exposure to moderate/high noise levels * May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles including dust * May be required to work in confined spaces or from high heights Physical Demands: * This role routinely uses construction equipment such as heavy machinery, hand and power tools * While performing duties of the job the employee may work aloft, climb, bend, pull, reach overhead, stand/walk for long periods of time and lift up to 50 lbs. * Frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; and reach with hands and arms * Must be able to correctly identify all colors of a color-coded cable/wires and see close vision, distance vision, depth perception, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus Travel: * May require travel (typically not overnight) Preferred: * Journeyman's license * Prior military experience * HS diploma or GED equivalent * Service Electrician

Job Description: U.S. Pipe and Foundry is seeking an Electrician. The successful candidate will play a key role inspecting, repairing, installing, and wiring all electrical apparatus, devices, and circuits, of any voltage in the plant or assigned area. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Receives wiring diagrams, specifications and instructions covering the scheduled and emergency repair, installation, and inspection work to be done. Analyzes all types of drawings and wiring diagrams to locate and install circuits and equipment to determine material or replacement needs and to select a logical approach to “trouble shooting” and repair problems. Plans details of working procedure to affect the most logical approach to the job. Considers all safety precautions and the proper isolation of circuits to cause a minimum of interference to operations. Determines necessary tools and equipment. Plans and performs work requiring a thorough working knowledge of electrical principles, wiring specification codes, properties of various materials, and principles of operation and application of equipment. Locates source of trouble of any type of electrical equipment by tracing and testing circuits and inspecting for faulty operation. Dismantles, inspects, repairs, adjusts, or replaces faulty parts and wiring on motors, generators, power distribution and control panels, circuit breakers, rectifiers, electronic devices, etc. Reassembles, tests, and adjusts equipment for safe and proper operation. Performs work on “hot” lines as required. Replaces coils, resistors, rheostats, relays, etc. Adjusts contactors, relays, bus rigging, etc. Reconnects terminal leads, panels boards and distribution feeders. In emergencies, shunts out defective coils in order to get equipment back in operation. Changes DC motor characteristics by shunting DC coils, etc. Installs conduit, fittings, switches, controls, and fixtures, and wires and connects all types of electrical equipment as required for new installations or replacement of facilities. Makes all required splices and connector joints. Adjusts all new equipment for proper operating characteristics. Performs all work in a safe and efficient manner and keeps work area in a clean and orderly condition. Skills & Other Requirements: High school diploma or G.E.D. Must have a minimum of 3 years of electrical work experience or have successfully completed an electronics curriculum from an accredited program. Must have ability to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams and drawings.
