Our Long Island team specializes in defending high exposure cases. Our attorneys have built a reputation for pursuing vigorous and inventive defense strategies not commonly advanced. We often come into cases as monitoring counsel retained by excess insurers, appellate counsel, or trial counsel. The team handles cases across a broad spectrum of practice areas in both State and Federal Court including Premises Liability, Catastrophic Injury and Wrongful Death, New York Labor Law and Construction, Maritime, Products Liability, and Transportation and Trucking.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Attend legal proceedings.
Conduct legal research.
Prepare summaries of pleadings, discovery responses, and deposition transcripts.
Prepare summaries of medical records.
Assist in preparation of pleadings and discovery demands and responses.
Assist in preparation of discovery and dispositive motions.
Edit documents.
Position Requirements:
Must be currently enrolled in an ABA-accredited law school with at least 4 semesters completed as of May 2026
Currently a rising 3L law student with prior experience as a law clerk is preferred
Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, ProLaw, Excel, and e-document management software preferred
Must be a self-motivated independent thinker with excellent time management skills, strong organizational skills, and outstanding writing and communication skills with the ability to work as a team member in a fast-paced work environment
This is an in-person position. Must be able to travel to office for work, and accompany attorneys for court appearances, trials, site inspections, etc.
The salary rage for this position is $22-$28 per hour and represents C&W's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range at the time of posting. Actual compensation will depend upon a number of factors, included but not limited to experience and qualifications.
