Job Duties - Resident Specialist ▪ Oversee the safety and security of the facility, residents, and staff. ▪ Maintain an accurate and up-to-date resident count; ensure all residents are accounted for. ▪ Ensure the Daily Resident Schedule is followed.
▪ Facilitate groups and contact warranted staff to print worksheets as needed.
▪ Distribute STAR Incentive rewards.
▪ Investigate incidents and report them to the Resident Coordinator, when necessary
▪ Process incoming and outgoing resident mail.
▪ Distribute medication to residents and monitor for misuse (OTC and prescription)
▪ Maintain cleanliness of the facility and workspace.
▪ Complete consistent security rounds at minimum of 30-minute intervals.
▪ Document warranted information during pre/post-shift debriefings.

▪ Monitor residents and resident's movements within and outside the house.

In this role, you will work with residents at our partner community in Brockton, MA. As the fitness specialist you will work 24 hours a week (flexible schedule to be determined by applicant and hiring manager).
We are looking for a motivated, proactive individual who is responsible for developing and implementing engaging fitness programs for residents in which the whole personal wellness philosophy of Hebrew SeniorLife and the value of fitness is reinforced. Educates older adults in the community in various health-related topics, and evaluates and tracks residents' fitness progress. Acts as a motivational force to support residents in developing a healthy, active and well-balanced lifestyle.
Responsibilities
* Administers individualized fitness assessments to residents including a review of health history and health priorities to determine appropriate fitness programs for residents
* Implements comprehensive fitness programs for older adult residents based upon resident's health, fitness assessment and fitness goals
* Develops and directs comprehensive fitness programs that maximize participation and healthy functional independence of residents
* Oversees and supervises resident's progress in all areas related to a resident's fitness plan including: strength training, balance and cardiovascular endurance
* Designs, develops and teaches group exercise classes
* Provides educational programs on nutrition, fitness, balance, memory and other subjects that enhance and enable wellness in spirit, mind, and body
* Collaborate with onsite resident services team to identify and communicate changes in resident status/condition
* Collaborates with physical therapists and physicians to begin or continue an exercise program for those with illness, surgery, or injuries
* Keeps statistics & data on resident's involvement and progress within the program. Also measures participation level and plans for optimal involvement
* Collaborates with other HSL fitness staff to stay up to date with current trends, new exercise equipment and current research
* Assists or makes recommendations on new equipment purchases and other budget expenditures

* Develops measurable criteria for residents to understand the value of the programs
* Creates and expands innovative fitness programs to meet the needs of the residents and fitness trends.
