    The Medical Assistant at CRO Services is a specifically trained individual who demonstrates expertise in dealing with patients during all aspects of care. Performs administrative and clinical duties under the direction of the Physician or Physician's designee. Performs the following duties personally and coordinates with team members to ensure successful completion of assigned tasks. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Essential Duties: Under the guidance of the Physician, responsibilities are as follows: Assist the doctor in all aspects of the patient's initial consultation, and Weekly status checks Routine follow-up examinations Any emergency visits that are needed. Schedule and follow-up on all diagnostic studies that are ordered including proper documentation and obtaining physicians signature on test result. Responsible for acquiring results and notifying physician of results on all interim reports. Charts information of patient progress on weekly status check sheets and scuts. Attend annual OSHA/Biomedical update meetings and application in the clinical setting of the updates. Document medications the patients are currently taking, and document any new medications prescribed by our physicians while under our care. This includes the name of the medication, dose and amount prescribed, physician prescribing, instructions, date and nurse's initials. Documentation of any samples given to patients. Responsible for charting patient's vital signs, initial weight, and all follow-up weights. Responsible for obtaining all signed permission slips for patients who are radioactive prostate seed implants only. Verify patient's allergies and document in EMR. Responsible for reporting or verifying all patient problems as reported. Maintain HIPAA rules and regulations as it applies to patient privacy. Maintain open communication with front desk, Nursing staff, etc. as it applies to: Patient add-ons Patients on treatment breaks Changes in treatment plan Attends mandatory company training sessions as required by state/federal law where applicable. Your success in this role comes from your enthusiasm to help others, work efficiently, and your empathy for our patients. * Maintain the exam rooms assuring that they are clean and well stocked with the necessary supplies and medical instruments before the arrival of the first patient. * Prepares the exam rooms for the reception of the patient and according to the needs of the provider and the exam to be performed. * Prepares patients both physically and psychologically for treatment and examinations. * Takes patient vital signs including temperature, blood pressures, pulse, respirations. weight and height and records these findings on the clinicians progress notes. Performs vision and hearing tests for all patients as required and records the results on the progress note. * Assists in the maintenance of accurate and complete patient medical record/chart, including but not limited to the following: updates the Problem Summary Sheet, records vital signs, test results and referrals. * Assists with sterile and non- sterile procedures. Ensures that proper documentation is completed.
