    The Youth Cinema Project (YCP) is a project-based learning program that teaches film to youth in public schools during regular school and/or after school/summer school. YCP Mentors are professional filmmakers that teach 90-minute film classes, twice a week to students in 5th - 12th grades. In collaboration with a co-mentor, YCP Mentors implement our rigorous filmmaking curriculum and guide students through the filmmaking process to produce high-quality short film content over the course of the school year (August - June). YCP Mentors can expect to work 7-14 hours a week. Minimum Requirements: Candidates MUST have a minimum of 3 years working in the film industry as a producer, director or in any below-the-line position. Candidates MUST have expertise in at least one specific area of filmmaking. Candidates MUST have editing experience - not to a professional editors level but enough to edit simple short content. Candidates MUST be comfortable using Google Suite Travel (up to 50 miles) may be required. Mileage is reimbursed. Candidates MUST have a Bachelors in film. Candidates MUST be comfortable in a school environment teaching children. Collaborate with other mentors and staff to create a positive and inclusive environment Help youth develop life skills such as communication, problem-solving, and decision-making Provide emotional support and encouragement to youth facing challenges Preferred Qualifications: Film School graduate, a plus Previous teaching experience, a plus Experience using DaVinci Resolve, Frame.io, Dropbox. We are seeking proactive, adaptable, enthusiastic, and dedicated AmeriCorps EXL Mentors to support the academic and social emotional development of students in local area schools of Santa Rosa, California. We partner with schools to identify students who would benefit from a positive, adult role model. EXL Mentors play a key role in leading Active Recess activities with students. Each Member is placed at one school site upon hiring to serve for the entire school year (commuting among school sites is not a daily requirement.) Program Overview The goal of the AmeriCorps EXL program is to provide comprehensive support to students. All students at the school site benefit from the support of organized, collaborative games and conflict resolution during recess and lunch. Students in need of additional supports will be assessed and assigned targeted services in literacy or math tutoring and/or placed in a social emotional mentoring group. Essential AmeriCorps Duties Active Recess: Active Recess: Structured and organized activities facilitated by adults in order to encourage students in games/sports while building conflict resolution skills during the core day and after school.     Job Description Description Description Position Title: Full Time Member, 900 hr (6 Months) Stipend Amount $2,500 Service Term: January 2026 - June 2026 Reports to: School Site Coordinator and AmeriCorps EXL Program Coordinator Position Summary AmeriCorps EXL offers a meaningful opportunity to support students' academic growth and personal development while being part of a dedicated team making a lasting impact in schools. Students are at the heart of our work. We are seeking proactive, adaptable, enthusiastic, and dedicated AmeriCorps EXL Mentors to support the academic and social emotional development of students in local area schools of Santa Rosa, California. We partner with schools to identify students who would benefit from a positive, adult role model. EXL Mentors play a key role in leading Active Recess activities with students. Each Member is placed at one school site upon hiring to serve for the entire school year (commuting among school sites is not a daily requirement.) Program Overview The goal of the AmeriCorps EXL program is to provide comprehensive support to students. All students at the school site benefit from the support of organized, collaborative games and conflict resolution during recess and lunch. Students in need of additional supports will be assessed and assigned targeted services in literacy or math tutoring and/or placed in a social emotional mentoring group. Essential AmeriCorps Duties Active Recess: Active Recess: Structured and organized activities facilitated by adults in order to encourage students in games/sports while building conflict resolution skills during the core day and after school. Members are assigned a daily game that they facilitate and engage with students, focusing on supporting positive student behaviors. Academic Tutoring: Working with students who are academically below grade level in literacy and/or math skills. Tutoring: Lead daily 30-minute academic tutoring sessions with students 1-to-1, in pairs, or in small groups at least 4 days a week. Students will attend tutoring for half of the school year. Lesson plans are created and implemented by the Mentor and/or provided by the teacher or curriculum. Mentoring Services: Mentors will work with students who need additional support in skill development, relationship-building, and personal growth. Lead 30-minute mentoring sessions with students 1-to-1, in pairs, or in small groups; one to two sessions per week. Mentors will support the same students throughout the course of the school year. Lesson plans are created and implemented by the Mentor, utilizing provided curriculum. Expanded Learning Support: Expanded Learning programs support selected students beyond the classroom, outside the normal school day hours. Expanded Learning programs are often referred to as After School programs. Support the after-school program, COOL School, through engaging with groups of students during the homework hour, leading physical, interpersonal and enrichment activities. Members will support the student Spring Break and summer programs. Member Development: Participate in training and professional development to improve quality services for youth Participate in National Service events to support the local community Weekend Service Day- Inquire for more details. Service Commitment I Full Time 900 Hour Member Full Time, 6-month commitment serving a minimum of 900 hours - may include some weekends and evenings, additional service events to fulfill the AmeriCorps contractual service expectations. 6 Month Contract Hours- Monday-Friday, 8:30am to 6pm daily over 6 months. Members are not expected to serve during days their school site is closed according to each district specific school calendar. (Spring Break Intercession program is mandatory) Service hours are expected to occur in-person at school sites, and EXL members are required to live within a reasonable commute distance from their school site. Areas of Responsibility Must be at least 18 years of age (17 with parental approval) Clear criminal background check (DOJ and FBI; National Sex Offender Public Database) Submit current, clear TB (tuberculosis) test Must have at least a high school diploma or a GED by start date Must either be a citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident alien of the United States (Due to federal grant restrictions, we currently cannot accept DACA recipients) Passion for education and working with youth of all backgrounds Organized, responsible, flexible, motivated and professional Strong personal standards of excellence, ethics and integrity Ability to be committed to a high standard of safety and be willing and able to comply with all safety laws and all the program's safety policies and rules Benefits of Service Monthly Living Stipend of $2,500 (10 Month contract) Segal Education Award: $3,697.50 Health Benefits Eligibility for CalFresh (CA's food stamp program) $250 Moving Stipend for applicants moving from over 250 miles from the service site Federal Student Loan deferment and interest repayment Extensive Professional Development and experiential learning opportunities *Please note: the living stipend and education awards are taxable Powered by JazzHR YR4B8hiAA2
