Primary Function
The LifeTech Academy Virtual Mentor establishes, nurtures, and maintains a working relationship with assigned LifeTech Academy mentees. The Virtual Mentor is responsible for timely communication with mentees and the documentation of those communications. The Virtual Mentor attends/actively reviews weekly communications with The Academy.
Essential Duties
To communicate weekly with assigned LifeTech Academy Learners
Establish weekly goals and plans for course completion
Establish long-term goals for annual course completion of ten (10) courses per academic year
To document in detail all Learner communications using provided LifeTech Academy documentation resources
To complete communication and documentation in the prescribed timeline as established by The Academy Director

The House Mentor role is a live-in, highly relational, high-level supportive position (10-15 hours/week). House Mentors will be supporting young people ages 18-24 who have experienced homelessness, housing instability, couch surfing, or have recently aged out of foster care. Mentors live in a separate unit adjacent to 3-4 young people who will be in an apartment next door.
What is a House Mentor?
House Mentors seek to build relationships with youth 18-24 over a prolonged period of time (preferably a two year commitment
)
. AYA House Mentors provide consistent support, guidance, and tangible help to the mentee as they work towards stability. House Mentors assist young people in the transition to adulthood, including building life skills and navigating relationships. They expose youth to information and opportunities that can help them make constructive choices about their lives. Mentoring is about believing in the unlimited potential of each youth served. The mentor reminds the youth of the expectations they set for themselves, encourage them to set higher or more specific goals, and follow-up consistently to support and challenge youth in achieving their goals. Mentoring requires time, patience, and consistency.
The Program
AYA Youth Collectives Supportive Housing program is a place where youth can rest, recharge, heal, take action steps towards their goals and achieve milestones along the way. In each home, Mentors act as the first point of contact for youth. Community is built through weekly house dinners, shared experiences, and daily interactions. AYA Youth Collective recognizes that having stable housing is only the start of long term stability. Its through community that youth begin to rebuild their circles of support and achieve interdependence.
House Mentor Roles and Responsibilities
Intentionally plan and facilitate House Dinners offering youth living in the home opportunities to build community, resolve conflict, learn about a variety of different life skills including but not limited to laundry, cleaning, cooking, personal hygiene, financial literacy, health navigation, educational goals, relationships, and stress management.
Arrange weekly check-in with each youth and complete Engagement Forms.
Communicate with the Housing team as needed.
Co-create Community with and for youth living in the home: with a focus on youth voice, choice, and self-determination. Celebrating and supporting youth, welcoming new mentees into their new home after a lease signing, celebrating birthdays, holidays, and other accomplishments/milestones.
Responsible for general upkeep of youth and mentor unit:
Maintaining organization of common spaces
Trash and Recycling
Monthly Health and Safety inspections
Entering Youth Unit at least once a week
Restocking of cleaning closet in youth unit
Collaborate with Housing Team to turnover rooms in youth unit
Help maintain a clean, comfortable, and safe environment for youth
Provide Housing Orientation to new tenants which includes an overview of house culture, communication, and facilitating a conversation on shared roommate agreements and responsibilities.
Serve as the primary point of contact for any emergencies, informing the Housing Manager in a timely manner.
Knowledge of all housing policies ensuring policies are being followed by mentees
Establish healthy boundaries with each mentee
Organize one community event for youth each month. (i.e attending a local wellness class, visiting a museum, attending a local cultural event, coordinating with staff to arrange a social event at AYA, inviting positive influencers to house dinner (AYA staff, therapist, college advisor, financial advisor, etc.)
Attend scheduled House Mentor monthly meetings and annual AYA retreat (2-3 days, including overnight)

RLMs are instrumental in assisting the department with training and development opportunities for Resident Assistants. RLMs serve as an ongoing resource for all RAs in Housing and Residence Life throughout the academic year, with a special focus on new RAs. In addition to supporting their residence hall or area staff, RLMs perform all of the duties of an RA and support all aspects of Housing and Residence Life. As a leader within the department, RLMs are required to understand the fundamental beliefs, mission, and philosophy that guide the work of the department. RLM's also play a role in assisting HRL professional staff with administrative tasks that promote the success and well-being of all on-campus residents.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Promote a safe, secure, and comfortable environment that fosters community living and academic success. RLMs are to know all of their residents and staff members and work to build connections. RLMs must be available - and be perceived as being available - a majority of nights in the residential area.
* Foster a sense of inclusiveness and promote a community that is welcoming of people of all backgrounds. Work with a variety of people from different backgrounds who hold opinions and ideas different from their own.
* Serve as point person for one 30 Thursday or major Housing and Residence Life program each semester. RLMs advise a committee of RAs to assist in planning and implementing these events.
* Perform administrative tasks including, but not limited to, facilitating the Room Condition Reporting process and key distribution; key auditing as applicable, developing inventory list for staff kitchen, resource room, and storage rooms; submitting maintenance work orders online; maintaining forms, files, or records for accuracy; tracking RA programming budgets and gift card use; and assisting the RLC with other operational tasks.
* Maintain open lines of communication pertaining to resident and staff concerns, time off, and work load to supervisor and other RAs.
* Check email, mailbox, and phone messages daily and promptly respond to messages and assigned duties.
* Interact with their supervisors, other RAs, and students outside of formal meeting times.
* Attend all scheduled RLM and RA trainings, in-services, meetings and scheduled 1:1s. Be on time and prepared for all sessions.
* Meet monthly with each RA individually to discuss relevant issues and concerns and to provide support and guidance.
* Schedule RA duty rotation for hall/area staff. Respond to requests for duty switches and update RA duty calendar.
* Keep track of RA programming and bulletin boards to verify that all requirements have been completed.
* Attend monthly RLM meetings with other RLMs and members of Housing and Residence Life professional staff.
* Complete one full round of building(s)/area each week, documenting and/or resolving any issues.
* Plan regular staff development and RA recognition activities and events.
* Schedule four office hours per week with the RLC in order to further assist with administrative or staff responsibilities.
* Serve as a resource for students and RA staff, offering support or referrals to campus and community resources as needed.
* Assist with recruitment and interviews for incoming Resident Assistants.
* Participate in an ancillary assignment as determined by the Housing and Residence Life professional staff. Examples may include: Marketing, Staff Training, and In-Services, Resident or RA Recognition, etc.
* Perform all duties of a Resident Assistant.
* Serve as a positive role model and comply with all policies set forth by the University.
* Perform other duties as assigned by the Housing and Residence Life professional staff.
* Provide GREAT customer service, anticipating and exceeding the needs of our customers.
* Understand and abide by all external and internal regulations and policies. This includes NCAA, GLIAC and national affiliations associated within athletics or other role specific regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS:
* Must be a full-time student at Davenport University (at least 12 credits - undergraduate; at least 6 credits - graduate).
* Must have a cumulative grade point average of at least a 2.75. While employed, an RLM must maintain a semester grade point average of at least a 2.75.
* Must live on campus in a room assigned by Housing and Residence Life.
* Must be in good academic, financial, and social standing at the University and cannot be on academic or social probation.
* Must be invested in personal and professional development and actively work to improve job skills and grow developmentally.
* Must meet expectations as outlined by the supervisor. RLMs are subject to ongoing review and formal evaluation at the end of each semester. Each RLM is evaluated by their supervisor on overall performance, the fulfillment of the duties outlined in the job description, and the objectives of the staff.

Summary:
An Ohio START Family Peer Mentor provides peer support to help families navigate through the child welfare and other systems while also providing hope and motivation to promote healing to keep children safe and families together. An Ohio START Family Peer Mentor serves families referred to the PCSA due to child maltreatment with substance abuse being the primary risk factor.
Essential Functions:
The Ohio START Family Peer Mentor serves as a member of the local START team along with the child welfare caseworker, child welfare supervisor, and behavioral health service provider. The goal of the entire team is to keep children safe and families together. The Ohio START Family Peer Mentor will have a caseload of no more than 10-12 families.
The Ohio START Family Peer Mentor's roles and responsibilities include:
Participating as an active member of the Ohio START team;
Working jointly with the Ohio START case worker and behavioral health provider to ensure seamless and efficient delivery of intensive wrap-around services to the START families on his or her caseload to assist with the safety of the child(ren);
Participating in initial meetings, weekly status meetings and Family Team Meetings to review families' progress and child safety in their respective cases.
Providing continual exploration of family's needs to empower the family to take ownership over their long-term successes and the safety of the child(ren);
Supporting the parent(s) in achieving personal independence;
Connecting START families to community resources;
Teaching families skills to effectively navigate to the child welfare system;
Assisting families with identifying and accessing natural support systems in the community;
Promoting coordination and linkage among providers within local community;
Coordinating or providing assistance in crisis interventions and stabilization of families;
Assisting families to develop of empowerment skills through promoting self-advocacy;
Identify barriers (internal and external) to full participation in community resources and developing strategies to overcome those barriers;
Providing input on court forms as needed; and
Providing input on development of the case plan and child safety.
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
The START Family Peer Mentor must:

Integrated Services for Behavioral Health (ISBH) is a community-minded, forward-thinking behavioral health organization helping people along the road to health and well-being. We meet people in their homes and communities and help connect them to the resources they need. We serve Southeastern and Central Ohio with a comprehensive array of behavioral health and other services - working with local partners to promote healthy people and strong communities. All of our services are intended to be collaborative and personalized for the individual.
We are looking for a certified peer mentor or an individual who is in long-term recovery from a substance use disorder or substance use with mental health, who is eligible to work toward becoming a certified peer supporter. Experience working with resources in Fairfield County preferred.
Essential Functions:
Participates as an active member of the Ohio START team.
Works jointly with the Ohio START case worker and behavioral health provider to ensure seamless and efficient delivery of intensive wrap-around services to the START families on the caseload and to assist with the safety of the child(ren).
Participates in initial meetings, weekly status meetings, and Family Team Meetings to review families' progress.
Providing continual exploration of the family's needs to empower the family to take ownership over their long-term successes and the safety of the child(ren);
Supporting the parent(s) in achieving personal independence;
Connecting START families to community resources;
Teaching families skills to effectively navigate the child welfare system;
Assisting families with identifying and accessing natural support systems in the community;
Promoting coordination and linkage among providers within the local community
Coordinating or providing assistance in crisis interventions and stabilization of families
Assisting families to develop empowerment skills through promoting self-advocacy
Identify barriers (internal and external) to full participation in community resources and develop strategies to overcome those barriers
Providing input on court forms, as needed;
Providing input on the development of the case plan and child safety; and
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
Have earned a minimum education level of GED.
Lived experience with child welfare services as a parent or child.
Minimum 3 years of quality recovery from Substance Use Disorder.
Familiarity with community health & human service systems.
Able to effectively communicate through verbal/written expression.
Can effectively operate in an Internet-based, electronic health record (EHR) and other data environments.
Demonstrate long-term recovery (at least 2 years is required, three years is preferred) from a SUD.
Demonstrate no ongoing criminal activity.
Have lived experience with the child welfare system either as a parent or child, with the case closed at least one year, or if you do not have direct CPS experience, be able to describe how your substance use affected your children and family.
Maintain a current driver's license.
