Tulsa Transit company history timeline

1968

The Metropolitan Tulsa Transit Authority (Tulsa Transit) was formed in August 1968 by the City of Tulsa.

They kept people moving until August 1968, when the Metropolitan Tulsa Transit Authority was established.

MK&O operated as an intercity and interstate bus company and won the Tulsa city bus franchise in 1968.

1997

The building that formerly housed Panache restaurant and catering business near Third Street and Cheyenne Avenue is demolished on June 12, 1997.

1998

Tulsa Transit has had many accomplishments over the last 50 years some of the key highlights are in 1998 Tulsa Transit opened the Denver Avenue Station located at 4th and Denver in downtown Tulsa.

2001

The station at 33rd Street and Memorial Drive opened in July 2001.

2017

Mayor G.T. Bynum holds a press conference on June 27, 2017, to announce the start of Tulsa Transit Sunday bus service.

2018

Starting in March of 2018 Tulsa Transit will kick off a Comprehensive Operating Analysis plan ( name coming soon) to take a look at what is the best way to service to and from the AREO as well as provide the best service to the current and future customers of the Tulsa Transit system.
