Tony R. Thene, was appointed as a Director and President and Chief Executive Officer of Carpenter effective July 1, 2015. He joined Carpenter in January 2013 and served as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. Prior to joining Carpenter, Mr. Thene served as Vice President of Alcoa, Inc. and the Chief Financial Officer of the Engineered Products and Solutions Group from 2007 until 2010. Previously, he served as Vice President, Controller and Chief Accounting Officer for Alcoa. Earlier in his career, Mr. Thene worked as plant controller at Alcoa’s Ft. Meade, Florida, and Bauxite, Arkansas facilities before being named Director of Manufacturing for Alcoa’s Industrial Chemicals Division, Arkansas Operations. In 1998, he joined Alcoa’s Wheel and Forged Products Division in Cleveland, Ohio, as Division Controller. In 2001, Mr. Thene moved to Alcoa’s New York Office as Director of the Corporate Financial Analysis and Planning Group, and a year later, he was named Chief Financial Officer for Alcoa World Alumina and Chemicals. He was appointed Group Chief Financial Officer of Alcoa’s Global Rolled Products and Hard Alloy Extrusions Group in 2004, and in 2005, he became Alcoa’s Director of Investor Relations. Mr. Thene earned his undergraduate degree in Accounting from Indiana State University and his MBA from Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, Ohio. He is also a Certified Public Accountant and serves as a member of the Board’s Science and Technology Committee.
