Doral Dialysis Center is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCT) to join our team. Main Function: The Patient Care Technician (PCT) is responsible for general direct care of the patients receiving hemodialysis under the direction of the Medical Directo. Under the direct supervision of the Clinical Nurse Manager, performs duties in the care and treatment of patients on maintenance dialysis. Performs in accordance with the established rules, regulations and standards of practice of the facility. Abides by all Federal, State and local regulations and laws relating to the operation of an ESRD facility. Specific Duties: 1. Preparation of dialysis machine. 2. Priming extracorporeal circuit. 3. Obtains and records pre and post dialysis treatment data vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, temperature) Weights calculate fluid removal based on estimated dry weight. 4. Reports any abnormalities of vital signs and weights to charge nurse. 5. Initialization of dialysis treatments via AVG and/or AVF under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. 6. Constant observation, monitoring and documenting of blood pressure of dialysis parameters for all access types as assigned during treatment as per unit protocol. 7. Demonstrate the knowledge and ability to mix and transfer Bicarbonate in the central delivery system. 20. Disinfection of Bicarbonate Tank and Hemodialysis Machine. 21. Checking the water system for chlorine/Chloramine. 22. Check the water system as per established guidelines and parameters, document on log sheet and report any deviations to the charge nurse. 23. Ensuring the enforcement of all policies and procedures including patient's bill of rights. 24. Proper handling and storage of bio-hazardous waste and chemical. 25. Disinfection of cleaning of equipment surrounding and including patient chairs. 26. Assist with lifting, turning moving, positioning and transferring patients. 27. Assist with the collection of biological samples, perform venipuncture, electrocardiograms, tube labeling, sample processing, documenting in subject charts, and other related tasks in accordance with the doctor's written orders. In executing these responsibilities, the Patient Care Technician is guided by Good Clinical Practices (GCP), International Conference on Harmonization (ICH) guidelines, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and company standard operating procedures and policies. Responsibilities: Perform regular safety and status checks on clinical trial subjects housed on unit as determined by physician orders. Perform appropriate research protocol procedures as delegated which may include but are not limited to vital signs, blood collection and processing, ECGs, and point of care laboratory tests. Perform basic lab procedures as delegated including but not limited to preparation of specimen tubes and labels, blood specimen collection, centrifuge operation, storing and shipping of lab specimens, accountability of specimens and notification of courier for specimen pick-ups. Ensure that biological specimens are disposed of appropriately. Maintain a clean, safe work environment for both fellow employees and clinical trial subjects. Engage the clinical trial subjects in group activities or one-on-one activities while housed on unit. Assure subjects have linens, toiletry items, and other sundries needed while the subject is housed on the unit.
