Minimum Specifications
Education
• Must be a graduate of an accredited Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Program (AAHEP) Radiology Program or an accredited Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist program (RCIS).
Experience
• Must have a minimum of one year experience in Special Procedures and /or Cath/EP Lab.
Equivalent Education and/or Experience
• May have an equivalent combination of education and experience to substitute for the experience requirements.
Certification/Registration/Licensure
• Must have an American Registry of Radiology Technologists (ARRT) certification; OR, Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) within 3 months of hire.
• Must obtain a Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT) OR Limited Medical Radiologic

• Certification in Advanced Cardiopulmonary Lifesaving certificate (ACLS) must be attained within 90 days of employment and must be maintained throughout employment.
• Must have a current Healthcare Provider (BLS Level) CPR course completion card or successfully complete a course upon initial orientation from one of the following: American Heart Association, American Red Cross Rescuer, Military Training Network.
Skills or Special Abilities
• Must possess a thorough working knowledge of radiologic special procedures and knowledge of computer software applications.

Responsibilities
1. Conducts specialized examinations in cardiac catheterization, peripheral vascular studies and/or electrophysiology studies.
2. Serves as a lead worker and resource to medical and clinical staff as needed.
3. Assists with identification, preparation and draping of patients, and room preparation for routine procedures. Reads physicians' orders/protocols and if necessary, communicates with physicians on protocols for routine procedures, and selects equipment in accord with the protocols and regulatory, statutory and Parkland standards to ensure patient comfort and satisfaction.
4. Collaborates with intra-procedure team to provide safe patient care. Participates consistently in Universal Protocol and site marking identification (when applicable).
5. Maintains and calibrates equipment, instituting and recording all preventive maintenance procedures, troubleshooting and reporting or seeking repair to maintain equipment operability. Conducts maintenance on special procedures equipment and calibrates such equipment prior to each procedure, instructing technologists in the operation of special procedures equipment as needed to ensure quality care for patients.
6. Identifies ways to improve work processes and improve customer satisfaction. Makes
recommendations to supervisor, implements, and monitors results as appropriate in support of the overall goals of the department and Parkland.
7. Stays abreast of the latest developments, advancements, and trends in the field of cardiovascular technology by attending seminars/workshops, reading professional journals, actively participating in professional organizations, and/or maintaining certification or licensure. 8. Maintains knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, laws and guidelines that impact cardiovascular technology and the cardiac labs area. Summary/Objective:
The Patient Care Technician II (PCT II) is a role dedicated to ensuring the patient has an exceptional patient care experience while in our center by meeting all patient needs. The PCT II will assist the technologist through smooth patient transitions and continuously engaging with the patient on exam expectations and wait times. The PCT II will assist the patient with any incomplete clinical pre-screening forms or consents and conduct the clinical history interview in preparation for the technologist's final review. The position will perform advanced clinical screening interviews specific to CT, MRI, and Nuclear Medicine examinations for technologist review. In addition, the PCT II will contact the referring provider office to obtain updated orders, clarify orders, and determine when a new order is required. The PCT II must ensure patients are notified when prep/exam details have changed prior to the exam's scheduled date. The PCT II is responsible for requesting and validating the patient's prior reports and images, and ensuring the clinical review has been conducted in a timely manner, prior to the patient's exam. Miscellaneous duties include: stocking the changing rooms, tech supplies etc.
Essential Functions
1. Performs detailed clinical screening of CT, MRI, and Nuclear Medicine patients for technologist review. Informs technologist of any contraindicated responses that could interfere with patient safety.
2. Assists patients with securing valuables and changing into proper attire for the examination.
3. Prepares room and non-sterile trays as needed to assist technologists/radiologist.
4. Ensures safety procedures are followed at all times in all security zones of the Center.
5. Supports the technologists in preparing patients for the exam, helping patients on and off the imaging table, and escorting them back to the lobby or suitable waiting area.
6. Assists with the Priors Management Grid (receiving and validating priors). Obtains, imports, and validates prior outside studies.
7. Prepares images and paperwork to be sent for interpretation. Sends images through the PACS system to the appropriate location as needed.
8. Contacts referring provider office to obtain updated order and to clarify orders when needed.
9. Collaborates with the Patient Scheduling Coordinator when there is a change in exam/prep for the scheduled patient.
