Peirce College company history timeline

1865

Starting with founder Thomas May Peirce in 1865 and extending to Doctor Mary Ellen Caro today, Peirce has a strong history of college leadership.

1915

Originally housed within Handel and Haydn Hall on Spring Garden Street, the college moved to its present location at 1420 Pine Street in 1915.

1917

In 1917, the school was renamed the Peirce School of Business Administration.

1959

The Office Automation Division opened in 1959 and was thought to be the first Business Data Processing program in the Eastern United States New degrees were offered in Arts and Sciences and Liberal Arts.

1964

In 1964 Peirce School was renamed Peirce Junior College as it received approval to grant associate degrees.

1997

In 1997 the College was approved to grant Bachelor of Science degrees and was renamed Peirce College.

2000

In 2000 the College began offering online courses.

2013

In 2013, Peirce College launched its first master’s degree program, marking the latest milestone in the rich history of one of America’s oldest colleges.
