DEFINITION: The Companion is a person who possesses adequate communication skills and abilities to provide companionship to clients in the home setting. The Companion does not render any hands-on care to the client.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Completion of at least the ninth-grade level of secondary education is preferred.
Documentation on file of having received training in topics related to human development and interpersonal relationships, nutrition, marketing, food storage, use of equipment and supplies, planning and organizing of household tasks, and principles of cleanliness and safety.
Minimum of 18 years of age.
Demonstrates maturity and a sincere interest in the client.
Demonstrates good personal grooming and health habits.
Must have reliable transportation.
Demonstrates mental acuity high enough to write, read, and adequately communicate with clients.
DUTIES:
Renders companion services to clients in the home setting:
Listening
Reading to the client
Supervising environment
Communicates verbally
Recognizes life-threatening situations, and acts according to protocol
Offers emotional support
Accompanies client to outside appointments
Provide light housekeeping tasks, such as preparation of meals, and laundering the client's personal garments.
Performs casual cosmetic assistance, i.e. brushing the hair, assisting with the application of makeup, filing and polishing nails (not clipping).
Stabilizes the client when walking as needed.
Maintains a chronological written record of services.
Report any unusual incidents or changes in the client's behavior to the registered nurse.
Maintains confidentiality of client and agency matters.
Submits required documentation in a timely manner.
Attains quarterly goals established by the DON at quarterly evaluation.
Performs other duties as assigned.

The PCA is a non-skilled worker that may possess a certificate of training either formally (i.e., Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) or in-house formal training; competency and assessment by an experienced RN, licensed by the state of South Carolina or an experienced LPN, with at least 3 years of experience). The training and supervisory will be under the direction of an RN. There will be subsequent supervisory assessments of PCA services 30 days after initiation of services; then at least every 90 days thereafter, one of which the PCA must be present in the home.
Primary Functions of Job:
To service elderly and/or disabled adults and children. Under no circumstances will any type skilled medical service be performed by a PCA.

The PCA must meet the following minimum qualifications:
*High School diploma or GED equivalent
*Able to read, write and communicate effectively with the client and supervisor
*Able to use the Care Call IVR system
*Capable of assisting with activities of daily living
*capable of following a care plan with minimal supervision
*Have valid driver's license/reliable means of transportation.
*At least 18 years of age
*Passed competency testing or successfully completed a competency training and evaluation program performed by an RN or LPN prior to providing services
*Other training, as required by SCDHHS and/or Medicaid Scope of Services for Personal Care II and HASCI Attendant Care, SCDDSN, and Veterans Affairs.
Abilities required:
Must be fully ambulatory and physically capable of assisting with the activities of daily living, as outline above.

DUTIES:

The Client Access Specialist reports to the RCM Client Access Supervisor. This position performs general data entry & keying tasks for the Revenue Cycle Management Department's authorization management functions that require a high degree of attention to detail, and the ability to analyze and resolve routine problems. Duties and Responsibilities:
* Obtain authorizations from payers and upload to the applicable document repository
* Identify authorization and eligibility issues and contact payer representatives to correct as needed.
* Utilize payor portals, MCO provider phone lines and email to communicate and resolve authorization issues.
* Work with Operations team to ensure schedule properly aligns with authorization units.
* Identify authorization changes as they are occurring, correct and modify master profiles as necessary.
* Identify eligibility issues timely and notify all stakeholders. Work with market operations and monitor when patients regain eligibility.
* Keep track of all authorizations and expiration dates of the authorizations. Obtain new authorizations before expiration dates
* Alerts the RCM Supervisor or RCM Manager regarding late or missing documents required for billing.
* Produces reports as needed
* Performs administrative duties such as sorting, scanning, filing, and emailing records.
* Performs other related duties as assigned.
