The Provider Recruiter is responsible for facilitating all aspects of the recruitment process to ensure effective and efficient Physician, Advanced Practice Provider (APP), Leader and international recruitment - including permanent hires and locum tenens coverage. This position facilitates the full lifecycle recruitment process from strategy and sourcing through selection, offer negotiation, and onboarding while integrating temporary staffing solutions to maintain service continuity. The Provider Recruiter develops and implements pro-active recruitment strategies, monitors market trends and best practices, and supports improvement initiatives. Incorporates internal talent pool, referrals, applicant tracking system, networking (including social media, schools, professional associations, career fairs, etc.) into sourcing strategy. This position serves as a liaison to external search firms, international sourcing partners, locum tenens agencies, and candidates to ensure timely communication, follow up, and completion of recruitment activities. This role also provides high quality customer service, cultivating relationships with leaders to understand the operational and growth goals of services lines and the organization. The Provider Recruiter partners with hiring leaders, serving as a consultant to develop and escalate strategic recruitment plans.
Essential Job Functions:
Partners with leaders, community/state resources, and academic institutions/training programs locally and nationwide to develop and continually refine comprehensive recruitment plans that encompass permanent placement and locum tenens coverage for near-term gaps and long-term growth in alignment with the organization's goals, mission, vision and values.
Facilitates and advances international recruitment strategies to diversify workforce pipelines, expand global sourcing channels, and support long‑term workforce planning. Leads efforts to identify, attract, and onboard qualified international candidates while ensuring compliance with immigration, licensure, and regulatory requirements
Sources and pre-screens candidates, including serving as a liaison throughout the recruitment process with oversight of site visit coordination for candidates and their families. Works with external resources such as immigration attorneys and relocation companies as appropriate.
Tracks and maintains accurate and timely records of all candidate relationships, providing regular sourcing strategy updates and recommendations to leadership. Assists in development and maintenance of applications used to track provider recruiting related metrics.
Promotes Altru Health System at varying recruitment functions such as job fairs, university career days and community events. Serves as a liaison with employment and locum tenens agencies, search firms, international sourcing partners and sourcing/advertising entities. Develops relationships that build and foster strong mutually beneficial partnerships.
Develops and implements recruitment and marketing strategies leveraging expertise of internal and external resources keeping Altru's brand and financial stewardship at the forefront of decisions. Investigates market trends and develops proposals for new and innovative tactics to source provider candidates.
Maintains working knowledge of Altru's compensation methodologies and market benchmarks; assists with preparation, presentation, and negotiation of compensation for permanent hires. Partners with Finance and operations on locum rate benchmarking, shift differentials, travel policy, and cost controls, ensuring competitive yet fiscally responsible decisions.
Collaborates with internal support departments such as employee health, clinical education, human resources, credentialing, information services, and hiring leaders to ensure a positive hiring and onboarding experience for new hires.
Ensures compliance with labor and employment law principles and policies to prevent any liability or other impacts based on hiring practices.
Performs other duties as assigned or needed to meet the needs of the department/organization.
