The Contractor must have knowledge of the nursing process and its application to clinical practice in order to provide individualized, goal-oriented nursing care to the neonate, infant, school-age, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient(s). The Contractor must have knowledge of scientific and psychosocial nursing theory, principles, practices, and techniques in order to plan and provide-quality nursing care which meets the physical, spiritual, and social-cultural needs of the Indian patient. The Contractor must have knowledge of biological aspects of disease processes and illness in order to recognize complications and implement appropriate therapeutic interventions required. The Contractor must have knowledge of the medications and dosages in order to recognize their desired effects, side-effects, and complications of their use. The Contractor must have the ability to analyze the results of various medical procedures and translate them into appropriate nursing interventions. The Contractor must have the ability to work effectively and harmoniously within the health care team and with Indian patients and their families. The Contractor follows facility policies and procedures, Joint Commission, OSHA, IHS, and other federal licensing, accreditation and regulating body standards. The Contractor operates and mentors specialized equipment such as respiratory equipment, thematic deceives, suction devices, defibrillator, electrocardiographs, etc., reports malfunctions to Bio-Med and /or Maintenance as needed. The Contractor interviews patients, family members, and others to appropriately determine triage classification: determines and evaluates appropriate interventions for patients in life threatening situations. The Contractor administers therapeutic measure as prescribed by the provider including mediations, intravenous fluids, blood products, respirator treatments, assist with various procedures i.e. splinting, sutures, preparing the patient, assisting during the procedure and evaluating patient outcomes post-procedures. The Contractor imitates and participated in patient education. Provides counseling and teaching to patients and families or surrogates on preventive, curative and rehabilitative measures involved in health care. Inter-Facility Transports Work Schedule: The Supervisor at each IHS facility shall determine specific tour of duty. The contractor shall work 100% of the contracted hours. Contractor shall work Monday to Friday 0800 - 1800, Thursday afternoons from 1300-1800, with one hour lunch every day totaling 40 hours a week scheduled by the SCN. Responsibilities Work in an acute care hospital on the Med/Surg Telemetry/PCU unit 30-bed unit divided into three 10-bed sections with patient ratios of 1:5-6 Patient population includes surgical (such as joint replacements, hysterectomies), medical (infections, respiratory issues, withdrawal), and telemetry cases Care may include stable C-PAP or BiPAP patients and telemetry monitoring responsibilities 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend required Holiday rotation is required to ensure fair coverage Float to Multi Care Unit, Pediatric unit (adults only), and West Campus Med/Surg Tele as needed Uses Cerner EMR, with RNs expected to be able to read and interpret telemetry strips Remote Monitor Techs available; RNs must independently read their own tele strips Duties include monitoring telemetry, caring for surgical and medical patients, and precepting nursing students as needed Charge RN manages 50 inpatient beds across multiple units and NAs assist with patient care when available Staff may be asked to provide primary care if nurse aides are unavailable Unit orientation is provided based on experience and hospital orientation is required Staff may rotate through standby shifts during low census situations Sterile technique testing for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes will be conducted on the first day of orientation Failure on required tests after two attempts will result in not being eligible to work at related Arizona or Sacramento region facilities for six months Scrubs of any color except camouflage are permitted Preceptorship of nursing students may be required Must be willing to float within department guidelines Requirements Active AZ or compact RN license required and must be held at time of consideration Current BLS and ACLS certifications required Minimum of two years of acute care nursing experience with at least one year in Med/Surg; telemetry experience strongly preferred Ability to read and interpret telemetry strips Must pass a dysrhythmia exam with a score of 80% or greater within two attempts prior to contract start Experience caring for both Med/Surg and PCU patient populations required Must not have been employed (full time, part time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility in the past year Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility Copy of driver's license required for consideration Two professional references required: one supervisor from the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from the last three years Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID #P-658706.
