The Development Engineering Intern will be part of the Clearway Development Engineering Team focus on Wind development and project engineering and will report to the Development Engineering Manager. What You'll Be Doing
The Development Engineering Intern will primarily be responsible for:
Supporting the development of intermediate to advanced stage development utility scale Wind projects. These tasks may include:
Learn how to scope and review standard due diligence deliverables required to finalize scope, project costs, schedule, energy output, and risks with an EPC contractor or Developer.
Review preliminary Engineering deliverables to ensure the design meets contractual, cost, and performance requirements for Clearway's offtake customers and financing partners.
Write, edit and/or review technical scope of work documents, specifications, procedures, site reports, feasibility studies, proposals, presentations, etc. Help review and negotiate technical aspects of EPC contracts, interconnect agreements, etc.
Coordinate with Development team and external consultants to deliver preliminary design, site plans and equipment layouts, system cost estimates, EPC contract technical exhibits, etc.
Contribute to CEG's technology roadmap, software tools, engineering capability and project management processes.
Conduct site specific analysis to determine environmental constraints and buildable area available for project development.
Conduct layout analysis in Geographic Information System (GIS) platforms like Google Earth, and ArcGIS.
Supporting or managing various initiatives such as:
Analyzing and implementing the use of professional software and tools like AI to:
Site Diligence Scope of Work Creation: Developing scope of work documents based on layout parameters for more consistent and streamlined planning.
Site Diligence Report Reviews: Automating the review of hydrology, topographic surveys, and geotechnical reports to summarize key issues in a standardized template. This would also include calculating associated costs using values provided by our team.
Cost Estimating Tool Integration: Exploring visualization tools to read input parameters and integrate with our Excel-based indicative cost estimating tool to produce accurate cost estimates with minimal engineering input.
Team Reporting: Assisting in generating reports aligned with our existing templates in Loop.
Resource Forecasting: Creating and maintaining a dynamic resource forecast for my team.
Energy Model Reviews: Reviewing standardized energy model files to flag key points and deviations exceeding a certain threshold
Supporting development or updates to Clearway's wind cost estimating tool
Supporting updates or improvements to a Clearway Energy cost estimate database tool
Improving our process for site Optimization to increase project margin across our platform and develop a way to document these improvements.
Working with our scope of work and potentially our EPC partners to develop a list of value engineering items that will improve project margin across our portfolio of projects.
Assist in technology and equipment assessments to report internally on suppliers, technology, and product viability.
Improve and manage engineering dashboards and reports used to report project status to Engineering Leadership
The Development Engineering Intern will be assigned with an individual project or one of these initiatives based on their experience and interest. They will present results to the team and leadership at the end of the internship on August 4th.

Educational Foundation: Active pursuit of a bachelor's degree in Concrete Industry Management (CIM), Construction Science Management/Construction Management, Business Admin/Business Management, Mechanical Engineer, Environmental Engineering or related field (open to more degrees) with at least junior year standing.
Academic Performance: A GPA of 2.5 or above, with a preference for those with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
