Qualifications/Requirements
Minimum of a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or Quality Management with 5 to7 years of experience in manufacturing, supplier development and quality control.
Knowledge of heavy industry manufacturing is required, knowledge of construction and mining equipmentpreferred.
Working knowledge of Quality Control and Quality Assurance practices and procedures and industrystandards is required. Working knowledge of Supplier development practice would be a bonus.
Persuasive communication skills, as well as ability to interface with all levels of people.
Excellent presentation and writing skills.
Strong working skills with computers (spreadsheets, data bases, etc.).

Hiring Range
At Komatsu, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. This role pays $103,000 - $128,800. The actual offer will consider a wide range of factors, including experience and location.

Position Overview
The Quality Engineer III works collaboratively with product, platform, and delivery teams to establish, govern, and continuously improve quality practices across the software development lifecycle (SDLC). This role ensures that quality is designed into solutions early, measured consistently, and validated through defined quality gates-rather than focusing on feature development or infrastructure implementation.
The Quality Engineer III partners closely with Analysts, Product Owners, Developers, and QA teams to validate requirements clarity, BDD alignment, test coverage, and defect readiness. The role provides senior-level guidance on quality standards, and traceability, supporting delivery teams in translating business requirements into testable, measurable outcomes. Rather than writing application code, the Quality Engineer III evaluates and influences technical solutions to ensure they meet quality, stability, and performance expectations.
Using Agile and DevOps-aligned delivery practices, the Quality Engineer III supports quality governance, metrics reporting, and release readiness, enabling faster and more predictable delivery without compromising quality. The role owns the operational execution of QE processes, including defect trend analysis, regression strategy alignment, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Assist with the plant-wide scrap reduction strategy, partnering with Operations, Engineering, Finance, Material Handling and Supplier development/Quality Engineering . Support cross-functional scrap review meetings; track, assign, and close action items. Help manage and enforce the Non-Conformance Material (NCM) process across all shops (identification, tagging, segregation, and disposition). Apply Lean methodologies to identify waste streams, simplify workflows, and standardize best practices across scrap and NCM processes. Collaborate with the System development team for enhancing NCM tool by providing user stories and UATs. Assist in the analysis of scrap trends (by shop, part, supplier, and cost) and develop dashboards/reports in collaboration with the Quality Data Engineering team. Help drive structured problem solving (8D, RCCA, DMAIC) for high-impact scrap issues. Partner with Finance to track scrap costs and validate savings from corrective actions. The Quality Engineer designs, installs and evaluates quality assurance process sampling systems, procedures and statistical techniques. Design or specifies inspection and testing mechanisms and equipment. Analyzes production and service limitation and standards. Recommends revision of specifications. Formulates or helps formulate quality assurance policies and procedures. May conduct training on quality assurance concepts and tools. Interfaces with all other engineering functions within an organization and with customer and suppliers on quality-related issues.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

• Excellent skill in reading MIL-specifications, government contracts and associated requirements.
