According to the Penn State Schuylkill website, the county discontinued farming operations at the site in 1961 and consolidated its remaining patients into one nursing home building on the property.
Doctor Robert Evans founded Rest Haven – York in 1962, while serving as Head of Medical Education at York Hospital.
The facility was included in an article in the September 2006 issue of Consumer Reports and placed on the "Nursing Homes to Consider in Pennsylvania" list.
