Roth Farms company history timeline
According to records, the farmhouse was built in 1832 by Andrew Layman as a tavern.
Structural timbers, flooring and construction methods currently being uncovered during kitchen renovations in the farmhouse suggest that the floor and original ceiling were salvaged from the log cabin and incorporated in the stone structure during construction in 1832.
When he became deeply in debt in 1835, Sheriff John Todd sold it to Lewis Jones.
After several transfers of ownership, the property was sold to Issac Kulp in 1846.
The Roths moved to Upper Gwynedd Township in 1941 and purchased the former J.B. Johnson farm on the northwest corner of Route 202 and Welsh Road.
1980 – harvested our first crop of rice.
1987 – harvested our first crop of sod
The farm was donated to DelVal in January 1992 by Edythe Roth.
2000 – harvested our first sweet corn crop in joint venture partnership.
2005 – harvested our first green bean crop in joint venture partnership.
2007 – Opened state of the art packing house, Ray’s Heritage.
2012 – harvested our first crop of celery.
