1923

In 1923, 14 founding hospitals formed HASC. They were:

1950

CAHF began in January 1950 as the California Association of Nursing Homes, Sanitariums, Rest Homes, and Homes for the Aged, or CANH, pronounced “can.” It was an era of long-term care virtually unrecognizable to modern caregivers.

1960

"Santa Clarita hospital opened its doors in June of 1960; at that time, there were 19 beds, 1 surgery and 24 employees.

The dream of creating a health care system tailored to the needs of the community it serves, and governed by residents of that community, had its origins in the late 1960’s when a handful of community leaders began to explore the possibilities.

1964

1. "125 beds" includes 62 convalescent beds in the hospital's convalescent wing, which opened in 1964.

1971

Northeast Valley Health Corporation was incorporated in 1971 by a group of San Fernando Valley civic leaders who envisioned establishing a healthcare system that catered to the medical needs of the local community.

1975

The Auxiliary made the move to Valencia when Henry Mayo opened in 1975.

It publishes 206 issues and has 10,214 readers in 1,725 hospitals and 13 western states before HASC sells it for $1 to the Association of Western Hospitals in 1975.

1984

HASC plays an important role in the highly successful 1984 Olympics by organizing an emergency health care and first-aid system for athletes and spectators.

1991

NEVHC expanded once again to include healthcare services for HIV positive patients in 1991.

1994

In 1994, our HIV services outgrew its space, and relocated to a new and expanded HIV treatment program in Panorama City.

1999

A high point of public exposure came at the Associations’s May 1999 Legislative Conference, when facility residents, many of them in wheelchairs, joined caregivers and CAHF members and associate members for a Challenges '99 rally on the steps of the state Capitol.

2000

A health center on the campus of Los Angeles Mission College in Sylmar opened in 2000.

2001

After the attacks of September 11, 2001, federal and state agencies provide for increased funding to prepare for bioterrorism or mass casualty events.

In 2001, the NEVHC Maclay Health Center for Children opened on the campus of Maclay Middle School in Pacoima.

2003

The Reach Out and Read literacy program was launched at four of our primary care sites in 2003.

2010

In 2010, NEVHC opened the Santa Clarita Health Center to expand access to residents of the Santa Clarita Valley.

2012

20122012In 2012, NEVHC opened the Rainbow Dental Center in the Santa Clarita Valley to improve access to dental care for SCV resedents.
