Patrols unoccupied areas and sets the alarms when appropriate. Locks and unlocks facility doors at prescribed times. Conducts money pick-ups from departments, logs pick-ups and successfully delivers the contents to the appropriate destination department. Releases bodies from the morgue, ensuring that all paperwork is complete. Checks alarms to ensure they are in proper working order. Escorts patients, visitors and employees when required for security purposes. Participates in security lead training designed for staff. 4. Maintains current knowledge of applicable laws and regulations. Performs "citizen arrest" and demonstrate critical thinking skills during extremely stressful situations as needed. 5. Appropriately and effectively utilizes assigned non-lethal weapon according to policy and training. 6. Investigates and completes written reports of complaints, critical security incidents and unusual activities involving patients, employees and visitors. Maintains an accurate log of all relevant security activities during each shift. 7. Professionally testifies in criminal court, state hearings and review boards when required. 8. Based on area of assignment may assist in the maintenance and preservation of confidential health documents including scanning into electronic patient health information systems. 9. Position reports directly to the Security Supervisor, or OIC in their absence. This position interacts internally with staff, physicians, visitors, volunteers and patients. External customers are law enforcement agencies and emergency service agencies. The position is system wide and officers may be assigned to work at any facility as needed. This position will provide guidance and direction to staff, visitors and patients during a security emergency. This position will be required to proactively identify, deter and respond to security incidents. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Must maintain required security certifications. Must possess a valid driver's license and be eligible for coverage under the company auto insurance policy. Must possess the ability to make accurate observations and exercise good independent judgment in a variety of situations (including emergencies). Must demonstrate the ability to write comprehensive security reports. Must successfully complete all required security departmental training, including department specific annual training and mandatory training as assigned. Must successfully complete Banner Health Basic Officer Academy. Must present a professional appearance and demeanor at all times and must possess strong verbal communications skills. Responsibilities Summary This position maintains continuous state of alertness and awareness to control and secure the facility and residents. Operates within legal constraints and contract agency stipulations. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Ensures that the equipment necessary for each watch is operational including radios, flashlights, and keys prior to relieving the watch. Prepares shift documentation including shift reports, work orders, security reports, and unusual incidents that are legible, concise and that meet facility's standards and contracting agency requirements. Receives necessary information from previous shift personnel pertaining to events that transpired during the shift such as resident medical problems, disciplinary problems, or new arrivals and any special instructions. Relieves the watch and informs necessary personnel that the watch has been relieved. Makes entries into the security log showing the time the watch was relieved noting name and title. Conducts radio checks documenting results in the security log. Conducts facility counts at the prescribed times and ensures the logbooks in the buildings are accurate as to count. Frequently patrols building to observe and listen to individual residents and groups of residents and monitors the state of the building. Examples of activities include smelling for marijuana, listening to conversations, or ensuring doors and windows are properly secured. Ensures that the building picture board has a picture of all residents assigned to the building and that the picture is in the proper bed slot. Organizes and supervises resident work details to assist in maintaining facility cleanliness to ensure that facility meets facility's and contracting agency requirements. Performs activities on both a scheduled and random basis including urinalysis testing, pat downs, shakedowns, counts, or breath tests, to maintain control and security of the residents and facility. Documents disciplinary action for rule violations according to procedure to comply with contracting agency requirements and log accordingly. Conducts scheduled and impromptu cleanliness checks of the facility and resident's personal belonging to maintain it in an orderly and clean fashion to meet health and environmental requirements. Responsible for maintaining close, continuous surveillance of all gaming areas and the entire property, in order to protect life and property. Duties/Responsibilities: Monitors all areas of property at all times, identifying potential security and/or safety risks and reporting same to the appropriate individual or entity, for proper resolution. The Asset Protection Specialist is primarily responsible for preventing financial loss caused by theft and fraud and supporting safety and environmental program compliance in their assigned store/multiple stores. They utilize tools to minimize loss to the Company, including but not limited to identifying incidents of theft and fraud, reviewing CCTV and exception reports, monitoring the store's physical security, auditing the Electronic Article Surveillance and driving a shrink elimination culture in the store. Other responsibilities include: preparing accurate and detailed case reports documenting your apprehensions and recoveries, preserving evidence, interacting with law enforcement and testifying in criminal and civil court actions.
