JOB SUMMARY
The Security Officer position is responsible for protecting Georgia Power employees, contractors, visitors and property. Enforce and administer established rules, procedures, and appropriate laws. Respond to alarms and security requests for security services.
Process personnel for access authorization to Plant Wansley in accordance with established procedures. Interpret procedures and regulations and be able to make decisions regarding plant access control.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
Experience Requirements:
- Must possess and/or obtain a valid Georgia driver's license
- Experience in the military, law enforcement, corrections, or armed security with a strong background in customer service and external relations preferred
- Knowledge of the criminal justice system is desired
- Computer experience - ability to proficiently use Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Fluency in Spanish a plus

- Must pass the following job prerequisites: company psychological test, physical, background investigation, and drug test
- Must successfully complete the required tests associated with this position
- Must qualify for firearm use and re-qualify with semiautomatic pistol and pump action shotgun at least twice annually (day and night firing qualifications) with a minimum passing score of 80% or better
- Individual will be required to be sprayed with O.C. Pepper Spray during training
- Must be able to work rotating shifts: days, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime

YOUR ROLE AS OUR SECURITY PATROL SPECIALIST:
As an unarmed Security Patrol Specialist, you play a vital role in ensuring safety and professionalism. You conduct fixed and roving patrols across client properties, serving as a first-line ambassador. Your duties include observing, deterring, and reporting incidents while accurately documenting site activities. You enforce client procedures and maintain exceptional customer service, all while being prepared to respond quickly and calmly to critical situations.
WHAT'S REQUIRED?
Valid driver's license
High school diploma or GED
18+ years old or the minimum age required by the state
Customer service experience
2+ years of security experience and/or military/LEO
Authorization to legally work in the United States
Great communication and customer service skills
Knowledge to operate the radio, telephone, and console monitors
Effective verbal and written English communication skills
Access to reliable transportation that allows for short-notice response throughout the Atlanta Metro area
Ability to work any shift, 24 hours per day, seven days per week, including weekends and holidays
Ability to complete crisis prevention training and site-specific training before serving as a qualified security officer
Ability to pass any state-required training or other qualifications for licensing
Ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs
Ability to reach over your head with 10-25 lb loads
Ability to walk up and down stairs, with loads up to 50 lbs
Ability to walk and stand for extended periods and use ladders
Ability to stand for long periods of time (8+ hours)
Ability to work outside in a variety of weather conditions
Ability to work at a desk and use a keyboard
An associate's degree is preferred but not required!
