Uniform Division, Rotating Shifts.
The base salary ranges, not including extra duty and Overtime pay, range from $73,944 - $107,764.
Requirements:
Must be at least 18 years of age at the time of the application.
Must have no less than 20/20 corrected vision in each eye.
Must be drug free for a minimum of three years.
High School Diploma or equivalent required. Associates Degree or higher, Honorable Military Service or equivalent Law Enforcement work history preferred.
Must have no felony or serious misdemeanor convictions, nor any habitual or serious traffic offenses, Domestic violence or assault convictions. Other violations, which may adversely affect a law enforcement career, will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Ability to obtain and maintain a valid Vermont State driver's license.
Must obtain and maintain Basic First Aid Certification.
Must successfully complete written aptitude, physical fitness, MMPI, panel interview.
Upon conditional offer of employment, candidate must successfully complete polygraph examination, background investigation and a physical examination by your health care provider.
Must be able to meet fortieth percentile physical fitness graduation standards required by the Vermont Criminal Justice Training Council (see below).

Out of State Applicants- The Essex Police Department encourages out of state applicants to apply to our department. If you are currently full time certified in another state, you are still required to complete all stages of the hiring process. If your current certification is comparable to the Vermont Police Academy, the Vermont Criminal Justice Training Council may waive the requirement for you to complete the Vermont Police Academy.
Hiring Process- An Essex Police Department application and formal letter of intent will begin the hiring process. Once these documents are submitted either in person, online, by mail or by email, you are officially considered an "applicant." If you are selected to continue through the hiring process, you will participate in a panel interview. Successful completion of a panel interview may result in a Conditional Officer of Employment Letter. If you accept the Conditional Offer of Employment, you should then expect to successfully complete the following requirements in no particular order: written aptitude test, physical fitness test, MMPI (psychological inventory), background investigation, polygraph and any other required tests depending on the position being applied for. Notice: if you do not successfully pass any portion of the hiring process, the Essex Police Department reserves the right to terminate the hiring process. Upon successful completion of all required testing, you will then enter the next available Full Time Vermont Police Academy session if you are not currently full time certified. After successful completion of the academy, you will then enter your Field Training Period with a Field Training Officer (FTO) from the Essex Police Department. The FTO period depends on the particular applicant, yet will be no less than 10 weeks for newly certified employees.

SecurityOfficers must remain calm in emergencies and can balance great guest and associate relations with safety and security. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES All SecurityOfficers shall be well trained and versed in; (include the following, other duties may be assigned)
The execution of all patrol operations, crisis management, emergency response and fire safety, physical security, information protection, incident management and/or investigation.
They must also work to prevent damage and losses by executing all operations plans and enforcing security and fire safety policies and procedures.
Patrol operations shall consist of, but not limited to, tracked rounds and surveillance of all land, building and property (present and under construction) owned or managed by Jay Peak.
These may include directed patrol of high traffic and incident areas, such as outside the dining facilities (where large numbers of skis are left during the day and early evening hours) and in the liquor licensed areas (bars, restaurants and convenience store).
Crisis management/emergency response, incident reporting, management and investigation shall consist of, but not limited to, response to injured employees and guests for proper first aid, CPR or AED treatment.
Motor vehicle accidents, incidents of criminal nature or Jay Peak guest conduct (such as theft, vandalism, assaults, smoke/fire/protection alarms, noise disturbances, animal complaints, open fires, and intoxicated persons or employees).
Daily fire safety inspections designed to meet State of Vermont requirements.
Use good judgment in awkward situations, knowing when to consult with management before moving forward.
Be prepared to speak with knowledge to the amenities that the resort and our local communities have to offer.
Assist guests in many ways, to include but not limited to:
Carrying luggage (sometimes up numerous flights of stairs in various weather)
Snow removal (or coordination of) to assist guests who might be stuck
Delivery of items to guests (cots, etc.).

Essential Functions
* Manages the daily operations of the Public Safety department including supervising staff.
* Promotes positive community service and relations with the entire campus community.

* Administrates and serves as duty expert for the RAVE web-based emergency notification system and the I-Force `1600 emergency loudspeaker, to include testing, operation, drills, and preventative maintenance.
* Administrates the University Safety Committee.
* Ensures that all Public Safety officers are proficient with publishing RAVE emergency notifications.
* Respond to emergency calls and investigates incidents or conduct follow up as necessary.
* Ensures enforcement of safety regulations, state law, and the university's rules and policies.
* Oversees the temporary storage and removal of Universal and bio-waste.
* Coordinates waste disposal with campus waste generators and waste removal companies.
* Maintains and stores appropriate records generated from hazardous waste disposal.
* Constructs and updates the Pass Down/Security Schedule to include information of events and use of campus spaces and parking lots.
* Oversees parking management, ticketing, and the parking tickets appeal process.
* Manages vehicle registration programs for faculty, staff, and students, to include databases and billing of tickets.
* Assists with records management by conducting a daily review of the daily logs and incident reports.
* Assists with event planning/coordination, staffing and implementation of event operations such as Commencement, Homecoming, Family Weekend, and Conference Services.
* Assists with development and managing of the department budgets.

Scheduled hours of work generally conform to public court hours, but assignments may extend beyond those hours. Occasional travel to other courts within the State of Vermont may be required.
