SUBJECT: SECURITY OFFICER REPORTS TO: SECURITY SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES The Security Officer provides for the safety and protection of guests, crewmembers and company property. The officer is tasked with anticipating potential threats or harmful activities and seeking ways to intervene in order to prevent injuries or disruptions from occurring. Monitors and assists in the enforcement of company and departmental policies and procedures and federal, state and local laws pertaining to gaming and criminal. Oversees the transportation and exchange of all money transactions with Player Services, the count room, table games, and all other venues as needed. This includes fills, markers, credits, slot drops, table drops, F & B escorts, etc. Surveillance must be made aware of any money movements. Operates a security control communications center at the casino security dispatch office (as assigned), monitoring emergencies, handling incoming telephone calls, dispatching officers, monitoring radio calls, and disseminating BOLO alert information. Maintains a visible and accessible profile among guests and crewmembers to create a sense of security, to deter potential problems and to answer questions. Responds to emergency calls, and depending on the circumstances, intervenes to stop crimes and disputes in progress and/or renders first aid to guests and crewmembers as needed. Notifies supervisor on duty if outside agencies, such as the police or paramedics, must be contacted. Monitors suspicious persons in the casino/hotel and outside areas particularly those attempting to enter unauthorized areas. At the direction of the supervisor or Operations management, evicts undesirables as needed. Executes extreme weather, terrorist, fire and bomb threat procedures as directed by the supervisor. Provides an escort to premium players who wish to transport cash and/or other valuables to their hotel room or car. Administers lost and found policy by logging found items and advising guests of proper procedure for claiming and recovering items. Assists hotel management with lockouts, lost luggage claims, missing property reports and welfare checks as needed. Prepares all reports for the shift including accident, incident and injury, missing property and damage reports in a factual, legible, and timely manner. When assigned to dispatch, maintains control of designated keys. Checks the key lists for authorized persons to be allowed in areas requested. Ensures shift operates smoothly and efficiently and that crewmembers, guests and entire property are secure and protected. Coordinates the security response to emergency situations that may result in liability for Treasure Bay Casino and Hotel. Determines shift staffing needs and assigns officers to various posts as needed. Ensures time and attendance sheets are completed accurately and submitted to administration on a timely basis. Assigns officers to daily tasks and ensures completion. In the absence of the security supervisor, performs supervisor duties as needed. Leads daily briefings with officers prior to the beginning of the shift to announce policy and procedural changes, upcoming events and other job-related information. Oversees ongoing training. When in the position of primary supervisor, communicates daily with other supervisors about changes, observations, suggestions, etc., which concern the supervision of the security department. Administers training to new officers. Manages training and development of officers to ensure they have the skills necessary to become supervisors. Documents, for the shift supervisor, any substandard performance by any security officer. If the performance is that which needs immediate attention, the chain of command will be followed for the next highest supervisor to be contacted to remedy the situation. Checks radios and conducts daily inventory of radios and equipment. Oversees Lost and Found, ensuring all found property is logged and properly safeguarded. Ensures all claimed property is returned to the rightful owner or valuable items are placed in a secure area and other items are brought to the Lost and Found room at the end of the shift. Maintains responsibility and security of property keys. Investigates missing keys and allows entry for those persons who have misplaced keys. Responds to all emergency calls requiring paramedics or outside agencies. Authorizes and initiates all direct contact with outside agencies. During emergencies, responds to the appropriate command centers assuming direct command of emergency procedures until executive staff arrives and then performs the role of advisor until a supervisor arrives. Ensures all on-the-job injuries are attended to by staff and that accident reports are subsequently filed. Frequently patrols and inspects casino, hotel and outside facilities. Handles hotel and guest complaints and disputes, notifying appropriate supervisors and conducting further investigations as needed. Checks for safety hazards. When hazardous situations are identified, ensures that work orders are submitted and the problems are corrected. Maintains records on security personnel on shift so that efficient reviews/evaluations can be made. Makes reports to shift supervisors on all matters concerning the property's security and safety of guests and crew that could result in company liability. Reports any actions, deeds or misconduct of security officers or other crewmembers which could affect the operation of the company. May assume the responsibility of shift trainer. Follows up with trainees to ensure compliance with procedural operations. EDUCATION OR SKILLS REQUIRED: Prior security experience in a casino/hotel environment for a minimum of one year is preferred. Notifies supervisor on duty if outside agencies, such as the police or paramedics, must be contacted. Monitors suspicious persons in the casino/hotel and outside areas particularly those attempting to enter unauthorized areas.
