About The Position
The Engineering and Construction Supervisor is responsible for managing the construction of new transmission facilities or modifications and maintenance of existing transmission facilities through use of contractor personnel.
Key responsibilities include:
● Provide onsite field management and coordination for electric Transmission projects. Manage 20 to 100+ contractor personnel for construction contracts of up to $20 million.
● Provide mentorship to Construction Engineer.

Responsibilities
This position is responsible for leading and coordinating engineering activities for the technical support, design and development of commercial solar and energy storage systems.
Hire, supervise, support and develop engineering team
Assist engineering project management team as needed learning all aspects of the team's responsibilities
Maintain strong relationships with clients
Assess current SOPs and workflows identifying opportunities for improvement
Ensure projects are completed efficiently, correctly, on schedule, and within budget
Negotiate contracts with outside vendors
Maintain relationships and manage expectations with engineering consultants and equipment vendors
Review engineering work for accuracy and ensuring compliance with engineering principles
Review RFPs and contract documents
Act as liaison with Project Management on matters relating to engineering progress, quality, scope issues on projects as well as interface with customers on technical questions/concerns

About The Position
The Engineering and Construction Supervisor is responsible for managing the construction of new transmission facilities or modifications and maintenance of existing transmission facilities through use of contractor personnel.
Key responsibilities include:
● Provide onsite field management and coordination for electric Transmission projects. Manage 20 to 100+ contractor personnel for construction contracts of up to $20 million.
● Provide mentorship to Construction Engineer.
● Initiate and evaluate jobsite safety and quality control procedures, address items as necessary. Perform and document safety and quality audits.
● Maintain day to day surveillance of construction activities to assess manpower, equipment, tools, material needs. Interpret and convey Ameren provided specifications, drawings and instructions to contractor. Ensure contractor compliance with same.
● Facilitate regular construction progress meetings to ensure contractor adherence to safety, quality, schedule, scope and budget. Document and provide progress reports of same. Address issues identified to resolve safety issues, cost overruns or schedule delays. Identify and resolve change requests.
● Provide constructability review of specifications and drawings to assure effective utilization of construction materials, resources and techniques.
● Assist the Project Manager or Project Engineer with development of the critical path project schedule to ensure realistic and achievable construction activity duration and sequence.
● Complete a detailed assessment of project requirements, including but not limited to: material, construction access and restoration, construction techniques and jobsite security prior to contractor mobilization.

Qualifications

Proficiency with project construction schedules required. Strong leadership, management, analytical, communication and human relations skills preferred. Must be adaptable and flexible. What you'll do
Provides support to the engineering and environmental functions of the firm. Is knowledgeable of methods used in taking filed measurements, creating drawings, collecting samples, or observing construction projects, and generally provides field and office technical "hands-on" activities to carry out the firm's work. Understands and interprets drawings, plans, and specifications in the field on construction projects.
* Field work may include construction observation of work in progress, keeping records of quantities and activities, verifying material specifications, and compliance to plans and specifications.
* Collection of samples from various environmental media for chemical or physical analysis.
* Gathering of measurements, as in survey work, or for preparation of drawings.
* Office work may include creation of drawings via hand drafting or CAD methods for review by others.
* Preparation of calculations, summary sheets, or other manipulation of data at the direction of others.
* Maintain equipment used in the field and in the office.
* May assist with copying, making plan sets, filing, library maintenance, or other duties as assigned.
* Receives close supervision on new aspects of assignments. Has authority to stop construction jobs if it appears contractors are deviating from design or materials or methods specified.
* A team player and understands the need to maintain client confidentiality of all project work.
What it takes
* Associate degree in Construction Technology, Industrial Technology, Engineering Technology, Architecture Technology, or Bachelor's Degree in Engineering. Significant relevant experience in a similar operation or within the firm may offset the educational requirement.
* Minimum 5 years' experience in technical measurement, surveying, or technical environmental activities.
* Works under direction. Performs a variety of data collection, graphical depiction, and office activities in support of the firm's civil and environmental engineering work.
* Able to perform observation duties for construction projects, recording data, taking measurements, and verify activities & quantities in relation to plan and specification documents.
* Accurate in verbal and written communication.
* Able to effectively communicate information to co-workers and contractors.
