JOB SUMMARY: The Host/Hostess is responsible for welcoming guests and escorting them to their seats for dining in the hotel's restaurants, continuing effort to deliver outstanding guest service and financial profitability. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: • Welcome guests and ascertain their dining needs. • Seat guests and manage the seating chart. • Receive incoming calls and provide information needed in polite and professional manner. • Take room service calls and orders and accurately communicate them to the kitchen. • Monitor restaurant activity to determine seating and dining flow. • Perform opening and closing duties, as needed. • Completes side work to include polishing/rolling silverware, stocking condiments and glasses, sweeping and cleaning as directed by supervisor. Practices “clean as you go” method, and sanitation standards. • Stock and clean host stand/podium. • Ensure knowledge of menu and all food products. • Uses guest's names whenever possible and learns guest preferences. • Follow proper cashiering functions by completing/closing guest checks and submitting information into POS system. • Respond to guest inquiries and requests in a timely, friendly and efficient manner. • Assist fellow team members and other departments wherever necessary to maintain positive working relationships.
