Position Summary: The Incoming Goods Receiving & Food Safety Technician is responsible for receiving raw materials, ensuring their compliance with quality standards, unloading and moving bulk materials, and maintaining documentation and food safety compliance in the plant. This role combines hands-on receiving operations with quality control and food safety responsibilities, ensuring all materials meet company and regulatory standards before entering production. Duties & Responsibilities: Receiving & Material Handling: Operate yard dog to pull loaded trailers into bulk unloading areas and move materials as needed. Weigh and sample incoming loads to verify compliance with established raw ingredient specifications, including bulk density readings. Complete all required receipts and documentation in WMS and other reporting systems; close out receiver processes. Unload raw materials and send to storage using appropriate equipment while minimizing product shrink. Maintain cleanliness of the unloading dock and follow GMP standards at all times. Participate in inventory counts for plant-in, drop trailers, hopper bottom trailers, and bulk bins. Interact professionally with truck drivers and other team members. Assist in continuous improvement initiatives in the materials handling area. Food Safety & Quality Control: Support plant compliance with GMP, HACCP, Food Defense, and other regulatory and corporate food safety programs. Assist in development, implementation, and management of digital Quality Management Systems (QMS) for receiving materials. Conduct sampling, testing, and reporting in accordance with quality and food safety requirements. Report food safety and quality system deviations to supervisors and take corrective actions as needed. Support training programs for plant personnel on food safety and quality principles. Participate in internal audits, customer complaint investigations, and CAPA activities as needed. Workplace Safety: Complete safety documentation and verify compliance with program standards. Participate in mandatory safety trainings and adhere to all safety policies. Report safety issues, near misses, and injuries immediately. Required Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED equivalent; Bachelor's degree in Food Science or related field preferred. Valid Driver's License; CDL desirable but not required. Demonstrated skill operating yard dog, including hooking/unhooking trailers. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred. Ability to work in both hot and cold environments. Basic computer literacy for data entry and reporting. Strong attention to detail and strong interpersonal skills. Knowledge of GMP, HACCP, and Food Defense principles. Desired Qualifications: 3+ years of experience in quality assurance or food safety within the food industry. Experience implementing or maintaining GFSI programs (e.g., BRC). Training in 5S, SPC, Six Sigma, or Lean manufacturing is a plus.
