1989 – Saint Francis becomes the first Illinois hospital to mobilize a Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory, at a cost of $1.1 million.
1990 brought in two more PCS group hopes and SFHS purchased its second nursing home, Browns Valley Health Center.
1990 – The formation of the Children's Hospital at Saint Francis Medical Center is announced.
By 1994, St Joseph Care Center was the largest not-for-profit nursing facility in the state of Kansas.

The Student Wellness Center opened in 1997 at Grand Island Senior High offering healthcare services to students.
In 1998, due to limitations in the growth and updating of the facility, St Joseph Care Center moved to Olathe, Kansas.

In 1998, St Francis Medical Center and the St Francis Foundation became part of the Catholic Healthcare West system, now known as Dignity Health.
In 1999, as the local medical community grew to nearly 100 physicians, St Francis undertook joint ventures with area physicians to build an ambulatory surgery center and imaging center.
2000 – On February 15, a groundbreaking is held for RecPlex (later named RiverPlex), a joint effort between OSF Saint Francis and the Peoria Park District.
2002 – Doctor Ketel performs the area's first pancreas transplant on September 6 and the first kidney-pancreas transplant on September 8.
Although St Francis Medical Center closed its doors permanently in 2003, the St Francis Foundation continues in our community in the spirit of the Franciscan Sisters and Dignity Health, to promote and support healthcare in the St Francis tradition in the Santa Barbara area.

2007 – In July, groundbreaking ceremonies were held on the downtown campus of OSF Saint Francis Medical Center as the Milestone Project officially began.
