Position Summary Patient Care Associates (PCAs) provide personalized in-home assistance to individuals with developmental disabilities who require help with personal care and activities of daily living (e.g., feeding, bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and ambulation). PCAs also provide help with tasks such as preparing meals, doing light housekeeping, and laundry. PCAs provide transportation to client responsibilities such as work, community events, doctor's appointments, and grocery shopping. Work is performed in various settings depending on the needs of the care recipient and may include, but not limited to locations such as their home, place of work, out in the community, or at other nonresidential facility. Compassion, teamwork, communication, empathy, eagerness to help, and patience are key traits that will make a Patient Care Associate successful. PCAs have the opportunity to make an impact on the lives of others by fostering independence, encouraging the accomplishment of developmental goals, lending a hand, and advocating for others.
