The Field Service Technician II plays a crucial role in troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing low voltage systems, including network infrastructure, surveillance cameras, servers, NVRs, access control hardware and software, and audio-visual systems. Reporting directly to the Service Manager, this position requires a highly motivated self-starter with exceptional technical expertise in low voltage systems and a strong commitment to delivering outstanding customer service.
The Field Service Technician II also acts as a mentor and leader for the Field Service Technician I, providing guidance and support to help them develop the skills necessary for advancement. Participation in Premise One's on-call service program is a key component of this role.
Key Responsibilities
Safety & Site Preparation: Conduct pre-work site assessments and safety checks to ensure a safe working environment.
Customer Service Excellence: Provide exemplary customer service, consistently maintaining the highest service standards and client satisfaction.
Field Leadership: Lead by example, guiding Field Service Technician I employees to ensure efficient, first-time resolution of service issues.
Project Execution: Implement job plans with a focus on quality assurance and safety compliance, ensuring project completion meets company standards.
Autonomous Field Operations: Operate independently in the field, making informed decisions to resolve technical issues on-site.
Technical Troubleshooting: Diagnose, service, and repair low voltage systems in commercial and enterprise environments, ensuring all repairs adhere to company and industry standards.
Testing & Documentation: Test all repairs on-site in alignment with Service Operations and Engineering policies. Accurately document all work performed, including notes, photos, and communications, in online ticketing systems and timecards.
On-Call Rotation: Participate in the on-call rotation, providing emergency after-hours service as required.
Vehicle Maintenance: Maintain the company-issued vehicle in accordance with company standards, ensuring it is always in optimal condition.
Professional Conduct: Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times, representing the company positively in all interactions.
Continuous Improvement: Provide feedback and suggestions to the Field Superintendent or Service Manager to enhance service delivery and field operations.
Communication: Proactively communicate scheduling issues and other concerns to the Field Superintendent, Service Manager, and dispatchers.
Additional Duties: Perform other related services as required on-site, with flexibility to adapt to changing job demands.
Qualifications
Experience: 5+ years of experience in Audio Visual, Security, Intercom/Paging, and Infrastructure Cabling.
Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of programming, technical commissioning guidelines, and troubleshooting philosophies.
Industry Expertise: Familiarity with industry-standard tools, equipment, and test devices, such as Fluke testers, meters, and OTDR.
Security Background: Preferred candidates will have a robust background in physical security systems.
Mechanical Aptitude: Strong mechanical aptitude with proven troubleshooting skills, particularly in relay logic and system diagnostics.

General Information
Job Description:
This position is responsible for fire prevention and fire protection at the assigned work site. The qualifications and general capabilities listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability desired by the shipyard.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
1. Comprehend basic instructions and general correspondence.
2. Be able to clearly communicate verbally to warn others of fire or other danger.
3. Understand the hazards associated with fixed and portable fire protection systems and the manner in which the systems are activated.
4. Understanding of proper use and care of fixed and portable fire protection systems.
5. Understand the Shipyard Competent Person Report, and where to find it.
6. Know the types of fire, the materials involved, and the type of fire extinguisher needed to suppress the fire.
7. Possess a Fire Watch training card.
8. Be able to wear clothing appropriate for the task. No exposed jewelry shall be worn while working. Finger nails shall be short. Long hair shall be worn in pony tail or wrapped for protection and should not interfere with hard hat. Ability to wear PPE, especially respirators.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Have Fire Watch Training card with them at all times in the shipyard.
2. Carry out Fire Watch procedures to protect personnel and customer and BAE property from fire damage.
3. Ensure that designated hot work area is clean and free of combustible materials before hot work commences.
4. Keep your work area clean and safe at all times, especially at the end of the shift.
5. Warn other personnel of danger, or to evacuate, by verbal or other prearranged method of communication.
6. Show initiative and ownership of work and work area.
7. Adhere to all safety rules and good work ethics. Be accountable for completion of work assignments.
8. Arrive at the designated work site at the assigned time. End the shift as directed by the schedule and your supervisor or journeyman.
9. Work shifts and overtime as assigned the supervisor.
10. Comply with OSHA standards and the shipyards best safety practices. Must be physically and medically capable to wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE) required for the job as prescribed under OSHA standards. PPE includes hard hat, safety glasses, steel toe shoes, goggles, respirator, safety harness, safety line, flotation gear, etc.)
11. Comply with the Company's “Non-Discrimination and Anti-Harassment Policy” which expects that all relationships among persons in the workplace will be businesslike and free of bias, prejudice, and harassment.
Work Tasks Include:
a) Ensure that designated hot work area is clean and free of combustible materials before hot work is started.
b) Carry an appropriately rated fire extinguisher to the assigned watch area. Make certain the fire extinguisher is in operable shape and not discharged prior to allowing hot work to start.
c) Notify the person accomplishing the hot work if it is safe to proceed and when there is danger.
d) Suppress fires when they occur.
e) Report any uncorrected unsafe condition or working habits to the journeyman and supervisor.
f) Assist with the hot work procedure and audits process making certain hot work notifications are in place and valid before hot work commences.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
-The working environment in the shipyard varies from a normal office conditions to working outside where precipitation, wind, extreme cold, and extreme heat and high humidity are not unusual. When working inside of vessels the environment may be smoky, hot or cold, and have low levels of illumination may be present.
-There are heavy equipment and power tools operating almost at every location. Depending on the type of work available, reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the job requirements.
-Personnel can expect to work in a variety of spaces from confined areas accessible only by manholes to high platforms accessible only by scaffolding or ladders. Work may also be accomplished using mechanical lifts as working platforms.
-The noise level in the shipyard environment is usually loud, especially inside of vessels. The noise encountered in the shop is generally low to moderate. The wearing of appropriate personal protective equipment is mandatory.
-There is always the potential of falling objects and personnel are occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts during work. Appropriate PPE must always be worn.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
-The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Must be able to tour all vessels, piers, docks and work sites.
-While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to: stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit.
SPECIFIC PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE:

Contract Facilities Technicians work under general supervision and are responsible for maintaining City buildings and facilities. The Contract Facilities Technician position performs a variety of manual, semiskilled, and skilled duties related to the maintenance and repair of various City and facilities and structures including plumbing, electrical, painting, and carpentry work, as well as the safe operation of a variety of tools and equipment necessary to perform the tasks assigned. Responsible to assist with the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and repairs of the mechanical and utility systems associated with the WuXi AppTec San Diego facility. This includes the building HVAC and chiller systems, house vacuum pumps, compressed air system, liquid nitrogen tank and distribution system, electrical system, boiler system, laboratory and Kilo Lab fume hoods, and associated utilities/equipment in the Pilot Plant. This includes assisting with maintenance/repairs as well as working with various external contractors and service providers.
**Responsibilities**
+ Ensures work is completed correctly and on time.
+ Performs minor dry wall, plumbing, electrical, and building repairs.
+ Assists in moving furniture and equipment.
+ Performs daily checks of the various mechanical and utility systems associated with the WuXi AppTec San Diego facility.
+ Maintains emergency on-call services for the facility and responsible for communication with Security personnel.
+ Communicates with Lead Technician and other colleagues to report routine events (i.e. equipment shutdown, impactful maintenance/testing, planned maintenance/calibration, etc.) and exceptional events (i.e. equipment operation issues, equipment out of calibration, etc.).

+ Orders spare parts and necessary repairs/maintenance needed for all facility-related equipment and systems.
+ Stays current in training to be competent in cGMP, EH&S, and Facilities procedures.
+ Completes all facilities related SOP training as required
+ Works with Lead to maintain maintenance and repairs for facility-related equipment to meet customer and business goals.
+ Ensures cGMP compliance of facility-related equipment.
