James graduated from the Harvard Business School and the Harvard Kennedy School in 2009. He was a Goldsmith Fellow in Social Enterprise at HBS and a Bill George Fellow at the Center for Public Leadership at the Kennedy School.Prior to Harvard, while working in the Bay Area, he helped develop one of the nation’s premier public schools, Pacific Collegiate School - annually one of the top-ranked schools in America by US News & World Report. After Pacific Collegiate, he co-founded Beacon Education Network, a charter management organization serving low-income students on California's Central Coast. James has a BA in History from Boston College.He is an avid golfer, cyclist and wine drinker. Just not all at the same time. James lives with his wife Michele and three children in Oakland, California. Dan DeMeyere is a Chief Product Officer at thredUP and VP Engineering at thredUP and is based in Oakland, California. He has worked as Director of Engineering at thredUP; Web Development Consultant at Global Notion, Inc.; and Software Engineer at Michigan State University. Dan works or has worked as Employee at Greenlight Theatrical, Employee at Michigan State University - Housing and Food Services, and Employee at Michigan State University - University Physicians Office. He studied at Michigan State University between 2004 and 2009.

Anthony serves as President of thredUP, where he is responsible for the profitable growth of the thredUP marketplace. thredUP is a pioneer in powering the $36bn apparel resale market.

Before thredUP, Anthony spent seven years on the leadership team of Sir Richard Branson’s Virgin Group, leading its investment program and product innovation teams in North America. As Managing Partner, he led the creation of multiple Virgin businesses, including Virgin Money, Virgin Voyages and Virgin Hotels. Anthony founded the Virgin Hotels Group and served as its CEO from 2009-2012.

Prior to joining Virgin, Anthony was a Principal at Venrock, the venture capital arm of the Rockefeller family office. During his six years there, Anthony worked closely with start-up founders to develop highly-disruptive products and scale their businesses through periods of rapid growth.

Before Venrock, Anthony held strategy, product marketing, and business development roles at Ericsson (formerly Telcordia Technologies/Bell Labs) where he was on the founding team of the voice-over-IP software business unit and authored the first product spec for the company’s “soft-switch” telecom server. Telcordia was acquired by Ericsson for $1.15 billion.

Anthony earned an AB, magna cum laude, from Princeton University where he was awarded the New York Herald Prize and was a Rhodes Scholar national finalist. He also earned an MBA from Harvard Business School.

With over 25 years of experience, I have scaled both public and private technology companies through rapid growth while creating strong productive relationships with Board of Directors. I hired and mentored highly collaborative cross-functional teams that enabled companies to exceed their goals and objectives.

► I led the successful IPO of a rapid growth company, pricing at high end of range and over subscribing order book by 5x, increasing value of company by over 100%.

► I managed the process of successful sale with a valuation |$1.1 billion, |4x multiple of revenue.

► I have networked with both buy and sell side Wall Street analysts presenting at roadshows and conferences resulting in top tier shareholders and analysts.

► Over my career, I directed 20+ worldwide M&A transactions that were valued at |$3.5B. I was responsible for evaluating deals, managing due diligence, driving the integration process and assessing post-merger results. Also, I collaborated with the executive management team on an IPO, Secondary and eventual sale of a company that successfully achieved |5X multiple of revenue.

► As an expat in the United Kingdom, I established the EMEA finance organization. Additionally as a U.S. based executive, I hired senior leadership in APAC, JAPAN and the Americas, to support growth and ensure US GAAP and local statutory compliance.

► While leading finance as an executive, I designed multi-year plans through both challenging and thriving economic environments that enabled companies to grow revenue, expand margins and control costs. I was responsible for implementing global ERP systems and financial policies and procedures for multi-million to multi-billion dollar revenue companies.
