In 1835, the Boston and Providence Railroad built a branch from Dedham to Readville, connecting with the main line from Boston to Providence.
The first town meeting after the town was incorporated was held at the Mitchell school house, March 20, 1837.
The Whiting Farm was the first large subdivision, becoming Oakdale in 1871.
The Norfolk County Courthouse was the scene of the famous Nicola Sacco and Bartolomeo Vanzetti murder trial of the 1920s.
