Position Overview
We are seeking an Information Security Intern is a member of the Information Security department and reports to the Chief Information Security Officer. This position is focused on performing cybersecurity risk mitigation activities, including conducting risk based and user access assessments, performing cybersecurity controls, and researching security technologies for company use. Duties include a wide variety of assignments, such as conducting user access reviews, creating vulnerability reports, reviewing security vendors for possible company use, and monitoring security tools. The intern position will require excellent interpersonal skills to foster collaboration and cybersecurity learning throughout the organization. We require someone with great organizational skills and a passion for being at the forefront of cybersecurity.
Responsibilities:
Leverage industry leading technologies to help identify and respond to the ever-evolving threat landscape
Perform analysis of logs from various security controls, including, but not limited to, firewall, proxy, host intrusion prevention systems, endpoint security, application, email, and system logs, to identify possible threats to network security
Provide analysis and investigation of security related data from a wide range of security devices
Interpret and act on results from various security technologies including SIEM, Firewall, Endpoint Solutions, DLP, etc.
Collaborates with Security Team to identify security threats and violations and to identify and recommend needed programming or process changes
Communicate with staff at all levels and work to educate staff on cybersecurity
Maintain confidentiality and an understanding of the evolving security threat landscape
Requirements
Qualifications:
Currently pursuing a degree in Information Assurance, Cyber Security, or a related field
Minimum of a 3.0 GPA strongly preferred
Active involvement in campus, community, or other volunteer activities and/or organizations preferred
Strong written and verbal communication skills
High level of confidentiality and professionalism
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
Interest in learning and contributing to the Information Security team and its functions
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without requiring future sponsorship for employment visa status
