Visiting Assistant Professorship in Spanish
Beginning Fall 2026
Scripps College, a women's liberal arts college with a strong interdisciplinary tradition, invites applications for a full-time Visiting Assistant Professor position in the Department of Spanish, Latin American, and Caribbean Literatures and Cultures. This is a one-year appointment beginning in Fall 2026, with a possibility of renewal for a second year.
We are seeking candidates who specialize in colonial and/or post-colonial periods and those who take a transnational or comparative approach in their work. We particularly welcome candidates with research areas including-but not limited to-race and sexuality studies, postcolonial eco-criticism, urban studies, translation theory, new media, and Visual and Performance Studies to foster a strong dialogue across and within our areas of specialization related to Latin America, the Caribbean, Spain, and Africa. The successful candidate should also be prepared to teach a Spanish heritage language course. The teaching load is five courses per year, plus thesis reading.
The Department seeks a colleague with dynamic, innovative teaching and a strong commitment to undergraduate liberal arts education.
Ph.D. preferred but ABD will be considered. Previous teaching experience and native or near native fluency in Spanish required.
The salary for this position will range from $65,700 to $73,000 and will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training.

The Opportunity
* Supports and represents educational program(s) at assigned site.
* Provides general administrative support to include, but not limited to, meeting agendas and minutes, managing calendars, drafting correspondence, handles phone calls/messages, filing, copying, and faxing.

This includes ensuring all providers are completing their Vituity and hospital Medical Staff Office (MSO) initial credentialing and re-credentialing as applicable and in a timely manner.
Required Experience and Competencies
* High school graduate or GED is required.
* 1-2 years of experience working with Graduate Medical Education Programs required.
* Previous administrative and/or academic background preferred.

Preparation & Maintenance of Facility Rooms
Sanitization, basic room upkeep, transplanting plants to other areas of the facility, and loading various vegetative areas on multiple tiers. Trellising and Transplanting plants as instructed
Placing Plant Feeder Lines
Cutting down plants and hanging stalks to dry
Plant Maintenance (Defoliation/Pruning), Basic Training and Shaping of Plants
Additional duties outside of the primary as required by Management
Qualifications:
Capable of producing accurate work in a fast-paced environment

Essential Functions
Answer telephones and give information to callers, take messages, or transfer calls to appropriate individuals.
Greet visitors and handle their inquiries or direct them to the appropriate persons according to their needs.
Prepare invoices, reports, memos, letters, and other documents.
Create, set up, and manage electronic filing systems, record information, update paperwork, and maintain documents, such as correspondence or other material, using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook; File Maker and Ministry Platform.
Open, sort, and distribute incoming correspondence, including faxes and email.
Operate office equipment, such as fax machines, copiers, or phone systems and arrange for repairs when equipment malfunctions.
Assist with monitoring inventory levels and requisition or purchase supplies as needed.
Help with the preparation of Crusades and other events.
Schedule and confirm appointments for Crusade team.
Make copies of correspondence and order necessary printed material.
Provide regular updates to Crusade team and Department Director.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
Prepares Market Ready apartments, which may include painting, carpet repairs, cleaning, general repairs, housekeeping duties, and any necessary duties to provide our residents with that quality move in experience.
Responds to resident requests in a timely manner and with a professional attitude.
Has knowledge of maintenance functions such as plumbing, HVAC, basic electric, general carpentry skills, painting, and snow removal (if applicable).
Maintains grounds, pools/ hot tubs, common areas, and dog park amenities to keep clean, operational, and safe for our residents.
Reports any maintenance concerns on vacant units, models, and common areas, to the Maintenance Supervisor.
Performs maintenance as scheduled by the Maintenance supervisor.
Knowledgeable of state, local, and federal fair housing laws.
Attends and participates in training programs as required by Cushman & Wakefield.
Performs duties as assigned, in a timely manner.
Delivers superior customer service and represents the company in a professional manner at all times.
