About the Role The Electrical Maintenance Learning and Development (L&D) Specialist is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining a comprehensive training program for all Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) Maintenance Technicians. This role evaluates existing training needs, identifies skill gaps, and develops targeted learning solutions to ensure technicians maintain current and proficient job skills. School, time limited) Unit Name Mississippi Governor's School Salary Grade 1 Number of Months Time-limited Full-time or Part-time Full-Time Hours per week 40 Proposed Annual Salary, Hourly Rate or One-time payment Essential Duties Duties will include the following and other responsibilities as assigned: Program Execution and Scholar Supervision * Support the Assistant Director in executing daily schedules, activities, and logistics established by the Center for Education Support and the MGS Program Coordinator. * Provide direct, on-the-ground supervision of scholars during all non-instructional program components. * Ensure scholars are safely and appropriately supervised during residential life, recreation, evening programming, free time, and off-campus activities. * Conduct head counts at all required evening and weekend events. * Enforce lights-out, curfews, and residential expectations. * Respond immediately to reported scholar concerns, including homesickness, interpersonal conflict, behavioral concerns, emotional distress, or maintenance issues, and escalate concerns as appropriate. * Administer conferences and residential-level disciplinary actions in accordance with MGS discipline guidelines, in coordination with the Assistant Director. Residential Life and Facilities Coordination * Supervise one or more residence halls, including daily checks, evening rounds, and morning clearance. * Oversee scholar check-in and check-out processes and verify room condition prior to staff release. * Coordinate with The W's Community Living staff regarding room assignments, maintenance needs, and residence hall operations. * Ensure residence halls are prepared prior to scholar move-in, including confirming utilities, furnishings, and distribution of scholar materials. * Ensure residence halls are properly cleaned and cleared prior to final move-out. Resident Assistant Supervision and Support * Supervise, support, and guide Resident Assistants (RAs). * Assist with training RAs prior to program start, including expectations for supervision, meetings, and scholar engagement. * Organize and monitor RA duty rotations and assigned supervision posts. * Lead or support daily dorm or wing meetings and visit wing meetings nightly. * Serve as the primary point of support for RA concerns and needs. * Enforce MGS rules and RA contract expectations consistently. * Model professionalism, accountability, and appropriate boundaries for RA staff. * Mediate disagreements among RA staff when necessary and elevate concerns to the Assistant Director as appropriate. Activities, Logistics, and Safety * Assist with planning and supervising recreational, afternoon, and evening activities. * Drive university vans and chaperone on- and off-campus activities as assigned. * Organize ID checks and supervision coverage at recreation and large-group events. * Attend daily staff coordination meetings with the Assistant Director and residential staff. * Provide basic first aid and respond to emerging health concerns. * Monitor scholar medical needs, including injuries, emergencies, and known conditions. * Report all medical situations to the Assistant Director and assist with transporting scholars to medical facilities when required. * Follow all university and MGS safety, emergency, and risk-management protocols. * Serve as on-site supervision support during evenings, overnight hours, and weekends.
