The Department of Family Medicine in the College of Human Medicine at Michigan State University (MSU) announces the search for a fixed term faculty member to strengthen our health services research in collaboration with a partner health system, Trinity Health. This collaboration aims to explore the barriers and facilitators to integrating evidence-based interventions into unique healthcare settings while pursuing opportunities to disseminate sustainable system-wide enhancements. This position is supported through funding provided by Trinity Health.
The Department and Trinity Health share several research areas of interest, providing an opportunity for this position to benefit from the expertise of both organizations. Current areas of research and programming include health and the environment, system adaptations to support the health and wellness of patients and providers, brain health and healthy aging, and interventions to support patients with histories of trauma and/or chronic conditions, including those from pediatric and disadvantaged backgrounds. The goal of this partnership is to implement effective practices, policies and programs that address health challenges, enhance access to care, and ultimately promote better overall health outcomes for all community members.
Successful applicants will possess a background in health services research, epidemiology, public health or a related field. While all areas of specialization related to health services and population health research will be considered, we are especially interested in applicants focused on health challenges, the prevention and management of chronic and behavioral health issues, and community-engaged and/or implementation research. Applicants must hold a doctoral degree (PhD, MD, DO, etc.) The primary location for this position is Grand Rapids, MI.
The ideal candidate will have a strong record of peer-reviewed publications and evidence of success in securing external funding for past projects. The faculty of the Department of Translational Neuroscience seek a motivated neuroscientist with a track record of scholarship in age-related neurodegenerative disease. While Translational Neuroscience hopes to enhance its faculty scholarship in Parkinson's disease (PD) and other synucleinopathies, discipline experts in Alzheimer's disease and related dementias or beyond are also encouraged to apply.
Currently, Translational Neuroscience consists of fifteen faculty with particularly strong foci in Parkinson's disease and other synucleinopathies and Alzheimer's disease and other tauopathies. Labs employ model systems ranging from cell, to invertebrate, to rodent models. Areas of investigation for the Parkinson's team's span alpha-synuclein biology, neuroinflammation, levodopa-induced dyskinesias, deep brain stimulation, environmental exposure, and aging contributors to degeneration. The Alzheimer's team's expertise spans tau and amyloid biology, neuroinflammation, transcriptomic and proteomics, cell and animal model development, disease biomarkers and novel therapeutics.
The successful candidate is expected to bring or develop an independent, nationally competitive research program that complements these larger neurodegenerative disease research portfolios while contributing to collaborations in service of larger program level projects, and the mentoring and didactic instruction of graduate trainees.

Blue Lake faculty members serve as instructors, motivators, performers, and positive role models for campers in the instructional program - both Majors and Minors. Faculty members also serve as a resource for counseling staff members pursuing careers in the arts and education through occasional consulting, coaching, and private instruction. Faculty members are expected to maintain a regular presence at evening events and camper performances throughout each camp session. Faculty members also assist with minor class instruction, opening day placements, and written evaluations for parents.
Most faculty positions are two or four weeks in length and are divided between the Intermediate and High School sessions. The dates for the 2026 season are listed below and include faculty arrival/orientation day:
Session 1 (high school): June 23 - July 5
Session 2 (high school): July 7 - July 19
Session 3 (intermediate): July 21 - August 2
Session 4 (intermediate): August 4 - August 16
Salary for faculty is based on degree(s) held and previous experience. The starting rate ranges from $635 (Bachelor's) to $755 (Doctorate) per two-week session, plus room and board. Specific Program Areas for Instructional Faculty:
Art: Assist with organization and implementation of the instructional program for art majors and minor students. Serve as resource for all visual art related activities in the camp and provide group instruction and guidance in a classroom setting. Art faculty also assist with exhibit preparation and show presentation. Focus areas include: Drawing and Painting, Ceramics, Fiber Arts, Printmaking, Sculpture, and Mixed Media (Metal Arts, Screen-printing, etc.).
Piano: Serve as instructor and performer in the camp instructional program. Piano faculty instruct classes in theory, keyboard ensemble, minor classes, and private lessons. Piano faculty also perform in master classes and recitals, and may lecture on a variety of topics.
Harp: Assist with organization and implementation of the instructional program for harp majors and minor students. Harp faculty instruct classes in theory, harp history, ensemble performance, and private lessons. Harpists may also perform in faculty recitals and Festival Orchestra and Band as requested.
Theater / Musical Theater / Shakespeare: Assist with organization and implementation of the instructional program for theater majors and minor students. Theater faculty instruct technique classes in voice, movement, script analysis, stage combat, musical theater dance, and basic Stanislavskian acting while directing or devising short, equal opportunity performances for either contemporary acting, Shakespeare, or musical theater final camper presentations.
Creative Writing: Teach poetry and prose writing in classroom and outdoor settings for creative writing majors and minor students. Support and supervise studio time for independent work. Serve as a resource for all Creative Writing department activities. Assist with preparation of student anthologies and end-of-session readings. Select Creative Writing faculty members may also present their work at faculty readings or in other venues.
Dance: Assist with organization and implementation of the instructional program for dance majors and minor students. Dance instructors teach ballet technique, pointe or pre-pointe, stretching, partnering, contemporary dance, and improvisation. Dance faculty also assist with rehearsals for final performance or demonstration.
Voice: Teach voice students in sectionals, technique, theory, and ear training classes. Assist with choir rehearsals, minor classes, and chamber music. Select voice faculty members may also perform in faculty recitals and in other venues as requested.
Ensemble Conductors: Band, Orchestra, Jazz, Choir. Conduct student ensembles in two full rehearsals each day. Work with sectional teachers to set goals and meet needs of the ensemble. Conductors routinely attend sectional classes and guide rehearsal assistants in logistical demands of the group. All ensembles prepare two short performances each session, totaling approximately forty minutes of programming.
Jazz: Assist with organization and implementation of the instructional program for jazz majors and minor students. Jazz faculty instruct sectional and technique classes, improvisation, jazz history, and assist conductors in rehearsals as requested. Jazz faculty also regularly perform in jazz ensembles as a part of Blue Lake's Summer Arts Festival.
Winds, Strings, and Percussion: Teach small group technique classes and larger sectional classes to junior high or high school students majoring in Blue Lake's instrumental music programs. Perform in the Festival Orchestra and Band, Park Band, chamber ensembles, faculty recitals, and master classes as requested. Serve as a resource for conductors of student ensembles, and provide written evaluations at the conclusion of each session.
Job requirements
Minimum of a Bachelor's degree and extensive teaching experience with junior high and/or high school students. Masters and Doctorate level degrees preferred.

Essential Functions

Ø Provide instruction and skill development for students to achieve nationally recognized industry credentials.
Ø Implement the Entrepreneurship & Small Business pathway using a structured, milepost-driven instructional model that follows established pacing guidelines and project benchmarks.
Ø Design and facilitate project-based learning experiences that integrate business concept development, prototyping, market research, marketing strategy, operational planning, and financial analysis.
Ø Coordinate and support work-based learning experiences that extend classroom instruction into real-world settings.
Ø Ensure instructional activities and assessments align to certification standards and Michigan CTE expectations.
Ø Provide a supportive learning environment and coordinate accommodations as needed.
Ø Maintain certification processes, documentation, and professional authorization.

Qualifications
There are two options for the candidate to meet Michigan Department of Education (MDE) requirements to serve as a Career and Technical Education instructor.
Option #1: Candidate already holds a valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with an appropriate CTE endorsement.
Option #2: Candidate must meet eligibility for and agree to complete the Annual Career Authorization (ACA) pathway to certification. This requirement includes:
· Documented, recent, and relevant occupational experience in the career field, generally a minimum of 4,000 hours (approximately two years)
· A minimum of a high school diploma (bachelor's degree preferred)
· Sponsorship by the employing school district or career center
· Participation in a mentoring and professional development plan while teaching under the Annual Career Authorization
· Completion of all requirements necessary to renew the authorization annually until full certification or endorsement requirements are met
The school will support eligible candidates through the Annual Career Authorization process in accordance with Michigan Department of Education guidelines.

The faculty of the Department of Translational Neuroscience seek a motivated neuroscientist with a track record of scholarship in age-related neurodegenerative disease. While Translational Neuroscience hopes to enhance its faculty scholarship in Parkinson's disease (PD) and other synucleinopathies, discipline experts in Alzheimer's disease and related dementias or beyond are also encouraged to apply.
Currently, Translational Neuroscience consists of fifteen faculty with particularly strong foci in Parkinson's disease and other synucleinopathies and Alzheimer's disease and other tauopathies. Labs employ model systems ranging from cell, to invertebrate, to rodent models. Areas of investigation for the Parkinson's team's span alpha-synuclein biology, neuroinflammation, levodopa-induced dyskinesias, deep brain stimulation, environmental exposure, and aging contributors to degeneration. The Alzheimer's team's expertise spans tau and amyloid biology, neuroinflammation, transcriptomic and proteomics, cell and animal model development, disease biomarkers and novel therapeutics.
The successful candidate is expected to bring or develop an independent, nationally competitive research program that complements these larger neurodegenerative disease research portfolios while contributing to collaborations in service of larger program level projects, and the mentoring and didactic instruction of graduate trainees.

The Chief and Deputy Chief Medical Examiners/Forensic Pathologists will lead the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine (MSUCOM)'s expanding forensic pathology program, overseeing medicolegal death investigation services for Kent and Ottawa Counties, and providing consultative autopsy expertise for other Michigan jurisdictions. Based in Grand Rapids, Michigan-one of the Midwest's most vibrant and livable cities-this is an opportunity to shape a modern, accredited medical examiner system within a Big Ten, AAU-member university known for innovation, integrity, and public service.
As Chief, the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring NAME accreditation standards are upheld, providing leadership in forensic pathology operations, policy development, and quality assurance. The Chief must be a pathologist certified in Forensic Pathology by the American Board of Pathology (or international equivalent), licensed to practice medicine or osteopathy in Michigan, and have a minimum of two years of forensic pathology experience beyond fellowship training. The position includes the authority to appoint and supervise Deputy and Associate Medical Examiners, ensuring that qualified pathologists are available for autopsy coverage when the Chief is unavailable. The Chief will lead a team currently staffed at 2.5 FTEs, fostering a collegial, academically integrated environment that supports both public service and education.
Both roles will perform forensic autopsies, medicolegal death investigations, and related professional services as required under Michigan Compiled Laws (MCL 52.201 et seq). In addition, they contribute to hospital-based pathology, including hospital autopsies, and support the education and training of medical students, residents, and fellows. These roles require extensive interaction with county health departments, hospitals, law enforcement agencies, the legal community, and other external partners. The physicians also serve as expert witnesses in court proceedings, participate in hospital trauma conferences, and deliver didactic teaching.
This is more than a public office-it's a unique opportunity to build and oversee a new, collaborative forensic pathology program at MSU, working closely with the university's forensic anthropologists, developing a forensic pathology fellowship, and contributing to statewide and international forensic education through MSU's Global Health Institute.
