The laboratory activities include aseptic techniques, admixtures of injectable solutions, ophthalmic and TPN preparations. There are three lab sessions on three different days each week. Each lab session meets for 2.5 hours during the day. The overall commitment is 6 weeks during the spring 2019 semester. This is a part-time position. Required Qualifications Position requirements: An advanced degree in pharmacy or pharmaceutical science, Pharm.D or Ph.D. degree is strongly preferred. Working experience with sterile compounding and applicable regulations that affect pharmacy practice. Pharmaceutical Calculation series is a two-semester course sequence for FDU SoP&HS first-year cohort of pharmacy students. This course sequence introduces students to basic concepts and skills involved in pharmaceutical calculations. The focus of this course is on basic mathematical principles and their application to pharmaceutical calculations in pharmacy practice. The topics include correct interpretation of prescription and medical orders, pharmaceutical measurements, various expressions of concentration and strength, electrolyte and isotonic solutions, drug dosing and clinical calculations, parenteral solutions and calculations involved in extemporaneous compounding. Class meetings are held in person during the day on weekdays for a 15- week semester. Class meets as an entire cohort of around 80 students for 1-hour lecture and is broken down into three sections for 1-hour recitations. Overall commitment is for 4 hours per week teaching plus availability for office hours. This is a part-time position. Required Qualifications Position requirements: An advanced degree in pharmacy or pharmaceutical science, Pharm.D or Ph.D. degree is strongly preferred. Working knowledge of basic mathematical principles and pharmaceutical calculations as related to the practice of pharmacy. Demonstrated experience and ability to adapt teaching to various learning styles and levels of learners are highly desirable. Prior teaching experience is strongly preferred.
